Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Review

December 28th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

Primarily for business and home office users judge the Canon LaserBase MF4350D Laser All-In-One Printer is a high performance multi-function printer that is not suitable for every user, mainly because of its size. The MF4350D not quite the same variety of functions that do some of the other printers in the same class, but it is mostly not a reliable tool for what it does very well.

Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Review

If you are considering an upgrade are of a standard inkjet printer (or a stand-alone laser printer) for your home office or business, the MF4350D will give you much reason to take the plunge. At first glance, you can tell that there is a severe, lasting unity, and it is well built, like the Canon machines in general. Nevertheless, the MF4350D is fairly compact in size goes as far as this kind of printer.

Business users will be pleased to know that the MF4350D maintain relatively easy as well. It uses a simple single-cartridge system, so you do not have to worry about the execution of some obscure kind of ink. On the other hand, this type of system is not quite as efficient as others are, in some cases, you can find, add that in the long run, you pay a bit more on the MF4350D than you might with competing units. But companies that might not have an IT department or IT specialist staff should still be able to persuade the MF4350D without worrying about the technical side of things.

Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Review

The MF4350D has a 250-sheet capacity, the standard for this class of printer. It is also a very handy built-in duplex feature that can help you save a lot of paper in the long run. The fax is MF4350D aspect of top-of-the-line, so that should make users, the heavy use of the fax more than happy with it.

There are some areas where the MF4350D behind other multi-function printer. Print quality with the MF4350D is not quite up to the standards of competing printers like the HP Officejet Pro and HP Photosmart Premium set.

The resolution caps for the MF4350D are generally lower in comparison to its competitors, and it offers slightly lower speed and lackluster copy speed. It also does not offer a wireless option that is a sore point, and any other defect in comparison to its competitors. There is no built-in network options – you must MF4350D connect to a computer with a USB cable. The 35-sheet input capacity of MF4350D behind the aforementioned HP models, both a 50-sheet input capacity. Also, despite its compact dimensions of the MF4350D is about the same weight in relation to its competitors.

Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Review

There are some problems with the functionality MF4350D too. The copier and scanner lack of an automatic sizing function, which is a great control. Also, make sure to update the driver to be able to print correctly using the on-board buttons to vote on the computer, because this feature is not implemented correctly by Canon to Release.

The MF4350D operates more than adequate as a value choice. For basic office needs, it will be exactly the right thing, and it is still probably the best value among Canon printers in this category at a very attractive price. If the savings are the key, and make you feel like you can do without some of the additional functions that have some of the competing units MF4350D is what I would recommend.

Canon PIXMA MX870 All-in-One Printer Review

December 13th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

Canon Inkjet All-in-one are very evolutionary products. Without major technological changes to improve them to continue to subtle changes in their specifications. The starting point on these machines is high, so that all the improvements are built on a solid platform.

The PIXMA MX870 is a replacement for the MX860, which was well received when it appeared a year ago. The “MX” is for a home office environment’s thought, rather than the photo enthusiast, which is maintained by the MP series. Although it may still photos from a variety of sources, this machine has a basic four-color printing process and dispense with CD and DVD printing, for the full G3 fax functionality.

Canon PIXMA MX870 All-in-One Printer Review

Over the years, this great Canon All-in-one from their paint-box look, changed a great black and silver box technology. More recently, the Automatic Document Feeder with hinged feed trays are taken within the sloping top and have surrounded the scanner is on the panel, the PIXMA MX870 Surround in this set.

The controls include Canon’s still unique selection wheel, although this is now refined to the circular edge of a four-way navigation button. The four key mode for copying, scanning, photo printing and faxing are in a square next to the 63mm full-color LCD display on the left and are ordered by a full numeric keypad on the right response.

At the far right end keys for black and white and color are copied and scanned, and the extreme left are three speed dial buttons for the fax. Another 100 quick-dial codes are two digit number.

There are two paper sources: a rear deck with a pull-up paper support and a cartridge, which slides over. Both of them can take a capacity of 150-sheet and two standard paper. Canon Photo Paper recommends the parcel shelf is reserved, though.

Behind a pull-down cover on the front right are card slots for CompactFlash, SD, MemoryStick and xD cards and it is added, a PictBridge port, which until double for USB drives. This connector is positioned at an odd angle that makes it awkward to plug the violin, or drives in place.

Canon PIXMA MX870 All-in-One Printer Review

There are jacks on the back for USB and Ethernet connection and a fax line and optional handset. Wireless is fairly easy and quick connection supports multiple standards, as well as normal passcode entry using the keypad.

The five ink cartridges – there are pigmented and dye-Black – Clip in the head carrier as soon as you lift the scanner portion of the machine to its support stilts. Each cartridge has a corresponding red LED to show it’s seated correctly and state whether it is low on ink. Software installation is easy and includes Canon’s own software, scan and copy.

Canon cited ISO speeds of 9.4ppm for black printing and 6.1ppm for color. These are very modest compared to the opposition, which often spec their machines at more than 30 pages per minute – ridiculous speeds for an inkjet printer. When we printed our 5-page text document, it took 52 seconds, which corresponds to a rate of 5.8ppm, 7.14ppm and this increases for the 20-page – not far from the 9.4ppm claim.

A 5-page text and color graphics test was 1.20, or 3.8ppm, which is not quite as impressive. These slower speeds are up to the long time the printer before printing budget spent sometime up to 25 seconds.

Duplex printing, the PIXMA MX870 is standard for anything Canon has not improved. Our 20-page, took 10-page document is a mind-numbing 9:46, only one page per minute. This is mainly needed because of the break for drying the ink between the sides, but other manufacturers manage inkjet duplex printing much faster.

Canon PIXMA MX870 All-in-One Printer Review

Copy speed are reasonable, with one side under 27s and a five-page document from the ADF’s degree in 1:16. Photos are also faster than most, with a 15 x10cm pressure under 52s from SD card or Pictbridge.

The print quality is very good. Photo prints are bright and precise, with smooth differences between the colors of the landscapes and lots of detail in bright and dark areas. Colors on plain paper are also clear and distinct, with little sign of the dither pattern filled in solid. Black print is not as good as in previous Canon machines, visible with a few feathers, was a blur on encouraging sign.

The increase in VAT, the cost per page, but met this outweighs the supply side of Canon websites are lower than in many previous machines. The costs come to 3.4p for an ISO-black page and 7.9p for color. Both are good compared to many of its inkjet and laser printer competitors.

Conclusion

Although the changes in the PIXMA MX870 are small, they add up to an overall improvement is a number of areas, such as printing costs and ease of use. The main bugbear – the rate of duplex printing – was not addressed, however, and is much slower than equivalent HP or Lexmark machines.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Review

December 9th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

The Canon Pixma MG5220 is aimed at photo enthusiasts who scan and copy functions also need to print. The focus is on quality prints, but with a faster print engine, improved LCD menu system, and two unusual, albeit limited add-on features that meet your interests. When you go shopping an all-in-one, characterized by photo printing, the MG5220 would be a wise choice. It has to find compromises, but with a low capacity output tray and higher than the average color printing costs.

At first glance you will notice, this printer is painted glossy black. It’s nice rounded edges and is relatively compact for an all-in-one model. The outer structure is mainly made of durable plastic. The printer does feel heavy when you pick it up, which means a fair amount of metal inside.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Review

This model has a relatively low profile, even if the rear tray fully extended to legal-size (8.5×14 inches) paper to accommodate. The double-hinged rear shelf conveniently folds when not in use helps to maintain the printer and its sleek, rounded appearance. You may close the front-side output tray when not in use. If you forget the output tray before your next print job is open again, that not a problem. The tray automatically extends to the outside just before it is needed.

The 2.4-inch LCD is bright (maybe too bright) with colorful graphics and readable text. The on-screen menus work in conjunction with three soft keys directly below the LCD, along with a rotating button and OK button, which let you quickly move through the menus. The main function buttons are well marked, either with text or self-explanatory icons. The online images are particularly helpful. We found it so easy to look at the icons to read the descriptive text below it. The MG5220 is have one of the best printer interface, we’ve seen.

This model uses five ink cartridges: Four dye cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and a pigment-based cartridge (black). Installing it was easy, because the display is automatically an animated guide, if you lift the scanner unit to cover expose on the inside. A separate red LED illuminates when each cartridge is firmly seated. On the other hand, the scanning unit cover in a manner that prevents them from rising all the way to be opened, so you do not have much leeway. All in all, the process was easy and relatively painless.

We had no problems with the printer driver and software installation. The MG5220 supports both USB and wireless connections. There are no onboard keyboard to input your network’s SSID (if your SSID is hidden) or password. For character input, use the cursor keys to move across an alphabet on the LCD. If you have the correct letter or number, hit the OK button.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Review

The MG5220 has two paper input slots: a front and rear cassette. Each can be up to 150 sheets of paper. The paper output tray that is positioned just above the paper tray has a load limit of only 50 sheets. This could be a serious limitation when you tend flyers, newsletters, brochures or print. Canon recommends that you use the rear tray for photo paper and envelopes. It is limited to loading only 10 envelopes at a time, and shows the manual that you remove each envelope from the output tray before the next is to avoid blurring or staining. If you regularly print envelopes, consider an all-in-one, the better equipped for this type of repetitive tasks’s.

Besides the usual applications they support all-in-One Printer, Canon software, which lets you create calendars, posters and multi-image album pages provides. can the ability to single frames from a HD video file to print and an iPhone app that you can print directly to the MG5220: The company also advertises two unusual abilities for this printer. While they are useful, both have limitations. The HD frame Print only works with MOV format files and requires you to use the ZoomBrowser EX Ver.6.5 software. The iPhone App works strictly with stored images. You can not do it for text documents, unless you convert the text to an image on a screen capture.

We experienced no problems with printing, scanning or copying with the MG5220. Duplex printing works perfectly and was easy to set up either access the printer driver or from one page in Windows applications. The printer does shake when printing, although we do not notice the movement of the printer away from their original position. The MG5220 breaks at regular intervals during printing to perform maintenance routines more often than most competing printers. The breaks were short and not significantly differ, the print times.

One of the criticisms of the Canon Pixma MX350 was his subpar speeds with text documents. While the MG5220 is no speed champ, it’s more competitive than previous models Canon and slightly better than average for an inkjet printer as a whole. With our 20-page text document with the default print mode, closed the MG5220 the first page in 14.7 seconds and all 20 pages in 2 minutes and 3 seconds. This compares with 19.2 seconds for the first side and 2 minutes and 53 seconds for every 20 pages with the MX350.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Review

With our 10-page mixed text and graphics test document using the default print mode, closed the MG5220, the first page in 16.2 seconds and all 10 pages in 1 minute and 42 seconds. The speeds are not bright, but they are still better than average. This compares with 25.2 seconds for the first side and 2 minutes and 47 seconds for every 10 pages with the MX350.

With photo print speeds, where the MX350 was more competitive with models from other manufacturers, the MG5220 was still significantly faster than the MX350. Our 8.5×11 inch photo in 1 minute and 38 seconds compared to 1 minute and 56 seconds printed with the MX350. Our 4×6-inch photo took about 44.2 seconds versus 1 minute and 5 seconds with the MX350 complete. These figures place the MG5220 have tested printing photos of the fastest we inkjet printer.

Copy and scan speeds were more competitive. We could not copy a full page monochrome text in just 11.2 seconds. The switch to color, was our example of a mixed text and graphics document page in 22.2 seconds completed. And scanning an entire page of plain text only took 10.9 seconds.

We found the MG5220 print quality for documents and photos remarkably consistent through the various modes. As with the Canon MX350 and MX340, which is fast-mode on the MG5220 is not that much faster than the standard mode. The quality is about the same as the standard mode, only lighter, so if you want to save on ink, there is little point in using the fast mode. Similarly, the high-quality print mode darker (presumably with more ink), but not much better. If you prefer a wide scope for the print modes, this may not be the printer for you. Canon has to optimize the print engine for the default mode, which most people would prefer to still use is selected.

Canon PIXMA MG5220 Review

The MG5220 really shines when it comes to print quality. Text was also formed without isolated points or jagged character. The text is laser quality, but it is very good for an inkjet printer. Graphics printed on plain paper issued vivid colors. Photos were printed on photo paper really impressive. The colors were realistic, not too boring and certainly not flashy. Contrast levels were very good, and the sharpness was spot on. This model produces some of the best glossy photos we saw on a sub-$ 200 printers have.

At $ 149.99, the initial investment costs for the MG5220 is quite reasonable. Your price goes to the front the cost of consumable items that would be significant if one were to do a lot of pressure. MG5220 is here to compete with similar models at about 5.3 cents for a typical page with black text. For a color page of mixed text and graphics, but this model would be more expensive than the average of about 12.3 cents.

A big plus in choosing the MG5220 would be the life of the printed photos. According to Canon, the colors are rated for 300 years if the photo is stored in an archival-quality album with a plastic cover sheet and kept in the dark. The inks are rated for 30 years, if the photo displayed in a glass frame in a typical interior from direct sunlight.

If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive all-in-one, characterized by printing photos, buy the excellent MG5220. The print quality is top notch, especially with photos. Canon’s latest print engine is much faster than in previous models found. For business users might be the biggest problems of the 50-page capacity tray and cover limited use.

Canon PIXMA iX7000 Review

December 8th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

Ask 10 people what they want in an inkjet printer, and you 10 can get different answers: laser-quality text, graphics, photo good enough, easy duplex printing frame and a print path wide enough to accommodate at least 11×17-inch paper . We are willing to bet, however, that there is a question you hear from everyone: If the printer and its consumables are priced not extravagant. While no printer hits a home run at any of these points Canon Pixma iX7000 $ 399.99 does an excellent job touching all the bases.

If print quality and cost savings are particularly important, the iX7000 also worth considering. It provides outstanding plain-paper printing, and you can reduce your paper costs further by the integrated auto-duplex function. The iX7000 also handles 13×19-inch plates and yes, Premium Glossy Photo Paper in this size. The biggest drawback for many companies? This is a single-function printers (not scan or copy) not provided with Wi-Fi.

Canon PIXMA iX7000 Review

With its 25.5-inch width and 20.4-inch depth, the iX7000 is too large to fit in order to most desks. Fortunately, the included power cord and USB cable are bent down so that it does not require additional space on the back of the printer. Also weighs whopping 43.7 pounds. Solid side walls to help you handle the pressure is to move if it. The iX7000 is dark gray and faux-brushed metal appearance gives it a modern view of the high-impact plastic construction and curved edges add a retro touch. can on/off button and a pause button controls are the only ones on board, everyone has an accompanying LED, the various operating states or fault code signal.

This model uses Canon’s Lucia pigment inks, ink system, which released only with the Canon MX7600 Multifunction Business Printers and Canon Mark II Pro 9500 professional printer. It uses five pigment ink cartridges (three colors Panzer and two blacks), and a clear ink cartridge, which is plain-paper printing while the other colors to keep from bleeding and to reduce curling on highly saturated pages. Our cartridge installation was quick and painless. Everything is color coded, although four of the cartridges are the same size, so if you could not careful in matching colors, a cartridge slot in the wrong place. (If you do this, you will be alerted with cryptic orange LED flashes.)

This printer has three paper machines paths: a front tray, 250 sheet, a fitted tray holds 250 sheets can be processed, and a front manual feed slot that accepts up to 10 sheets. Canon sets the resolution at 600×600 dots per inch (dpi) for black and 4,800 x1, 200 dpi for color. With inkjet printers, but you take for each resolution numbers with a grain of salt, if the points bleed together, text and graphics are less clear, effectively reducing the resolution.

Setup was easy since there are only two ways to connect to the printer via USB or Ethernet. If you’re used to All-in-one printer, you may disappointed, there’s no LCD screen can be printed to the printer, all settings are retrieved from the printer driver. The Ethernet port allows the sharing of iX7000 over a network, but you have to leave to send to the USB connection to the network settings to the printer. Our network installation went without incident. It is simply a question of acceptance of the default selection when the printer is not automatically detected on the network. In this case, you must manually set the printer’s IP address.

Canon PIXMA iX7000 Review

The iX7000 is a little noisy when printing, sometimes levy a shrill cry or sound shaking. The loudest the mechanical noise of the printer was made when it sold or grabbed a sheet of paper. Canon rates the noise level for this model at 36.0 dB with the default settings. (Probably because of the considerable weight, we have no problems with the printer “on foot” on his own during printing.) To We had no problems with the automatic duplex function terminals or typographical errors. The duplex prints were a bit wet at first, although they are quickly dried. The plain paper is not double-sided printing with our Locke, as the case with some duplex-capable printers. However, we found that if we do not extend the paper output tray on the cheeks, our letter-sheets would emerge under the pressure. It’s best to let the panels extended, which means you need to allow for some extra space in front of the printer.

The iX7000 printed text slower than average compared to other inkjet printers. We had to wait 18 seconds for the first page when printing our 20-page text test document in standard mode. For comparison’s sake, the Lexmark Interact S605 from the first page spit over a second quicker, and the Epson Stylus NX515 has about 8 seconds faster. The whole document took 2 minutes and 22 seconds, 6 seconds faster than the S605 Interact and about a minute slower than the NX515. With our 10-page text and graphics document, which clocked in at 22 seconds for the iX7000 first side and 1 minute and 49 seconds for the entire document. Interact S605 took about 20 seconds longer to print the entire document, and the NX515 has about 20 seconds faster.

The iX7000 proved to be competitive prints. Our 4×6-inch picture came on 52 seconds in Standard mode, while our 8.5×11 inch photo came at 1 minute and 50 seconds in Standard mode. The NX515 has much more to do the same tasks.

While the iX7000 is not the fastest inkjet printers we’ve tested, the quality of the prints of the best we’ve seen, especially for text on plain paper with the standard quality setting. Standard-quality text was very close to laser quality, with no stray dots or wrong character. Furthermore, the draft mode looked good, although the smoothness of the letters printed in italics rather fall apart, and both text and graphics a bit light. The text did not look significantly better than standard mode when we turned on fine mode, although it was a little darker. As a result, you can fine-mode is not worth the extension or ink.

Canon PIXMA iX7000 Review

There was little difference in the printed photos between the standard and fine mode using photo paper, glossy. As with text on plain paper, the good news: Why waste money on extra supplies if you achieve very good results in the default settings? The photo quality was very good, with deep blacks, Edge-to-edge sharpness and consistency from print to print. The color fidelity was wrong with the cold end of the spectrum that the white linen curtains in our test image has a slight blue cast. And while the blacks were dark, the whites were a bit boring. Sharpness and detail were better than expected. Photos were printed on plain paper also quite good, particularly in Draft mode, where visual quality often takes a big hit.

Based on Canon’s yield projections, we calculate the iX7000 the cost per page are 2.9 cents for monochrome and 8.3 cents for color.

Figuring out how the costs should be reduced to a central concern for this printer intended users: small businesses and home offices. The can iX7000 costs by cutting the integrated duplex (less paper required), clear ink for improved undercoat plain-paper printing (less demand for premium-paper), five pigment ink cartridges (less wasted ink), and 13×19-inch Print (to send less need for large-scale projects). All these factors could also budget-conscious families who want to step up to an attractive large-format printer. Simply put: It is one of the most versatile single-function inkjet printers can be bought.

Canon Selphy ES30 Review

December 7th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

ES3 When the younger, to a lesser sibling of the Selphy presented, it looks more like a ES30 printer as a handbag. Sharing a similar aesthetic to its predecessor, the Selphy ES20, ES30 which now has a curved handle at the top of the unit make completely portable. In fact, it is probably so unlike what you think a photo printer should be such that you even think it is too “fake” to be true, like the bucket of Selphy CP770 Canon released a while ago.

Canon Selphy ES30 Review

Features

Do not worry though, as the ES30, despite his curious eyes and really in a position some good prints. It is a dye-sublimation printer, the Canon ink and paper sold in one sentence. Open the slot on the side and insert the ink cartridge and paper in one go. While this is the need to replace individual colors as found in inkjet printers, reduce size, it is a bit on the expensive side and a little wasteful as each cartridge set comes in individual plastic packaging in a plastic packaging in a carton.

The ES30 is able to add various effects and clip art pictures on when you insert a memory card into the printer, and as an extra for those who have their bling as the ability to print gold and silver borders. You must purchase separate, dedicated cartridges for these color effects though.

At the top of the ES30 slots sit for just about any memory card you can name, so printing without a computer very easy.

Performance and image quality

Like other models Selphy resumes printing four stages – three to overlay the colors in separate passes, and we add a protective layer on the top. move in a curious, motivated by the upright design of the device, the paper is partially ejected from the slot at the bottom, lengthwise, then the printer rotates the paper 90 degrees, and proceeds by the paper up and print to the bottom through the device. Finally, the finished print is ejected from the top, just behind the memory slots.

The scroll wheel is a little moody, sometimes refuse to move to the next picture without much persuasion and other times to scroll through the images quickly, but that’s a minor complaint. For the most part, the printer interface easy to learn and intuitive, without consulting the manual.

In terms of print quality, we were generally very impressed with the Selphy. Several prints have a slightly yellowish color, but they, and we could not find that the photos by one of the MFPs we tested recently (the HP Photosmart C6380) voted appear slightly less bright and lively. However, blacks were deep, the skin tones were accurate and true to life, all points in the Selphy favor.

It’s not the fastest photo printer, but the assumption of a minute to a full pressure because of the complete four passes – then again, for this type of device, the speed is not really the most important factor. Noise is anything but a problem – it is definitely wrong about the cacophony rather quiet side street.

Cost per print

Although we like to usually the Selphy The portability and image quality, there is a downside for the comfort – the cost per print is AU $ 0.50 cents. The cost is slightly reduced to AU $ 0.38 cents when you buy a pack of 100 sheets, although they still generally more expensive than store prints. Silver and Gold Packs are love even more, on average AU $ 1.22 per print.

Canon PIXMA MX7600 Review

December 1st, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

Canon Pixma MX7600 All-in-One Inkjet cost a pretty penny, but you get a best-of-both-worlds printers, both laser-quality text and ink-quality photos, and thanks to the new pigment Canon Reaction (PgR) technology . It covers the paper with clear ink, which then reacts with the subsequent layer pigment ink, essentially turning any job-even a plain paper into coated pressure for more details and durability. We have never seen an inkjet print text of this well, and its photo printing capabilities are also commendable. If you intend to be here to print a lot of text, you may be better off with a laser printer, but for less frequented scenarios with lots of graphics, text and photographs, then the MX7600 is hard to beat.

Tipped the scales at 36 pounds, the MX7600 is no lightweight, but it is short and wide, measuring 10.1×19.7×21 inch (HWD), so it does not require a lot of vertical space above it, like most printers, have a car – document feeder. Its connectivity options include USB and Fast Ethernet ports (neither cable is included), and it has an additional USB port on the front that works with PictBridge devices, so you can print photos directly from a compatible digital camera. It does not support wireless networking.

Canon PIXMA MX7600 Review

The MX7600 also scan, copy and fax and can perform automatic duplex printing for print jobs, so you do not have to flip pages to print on both sides. The automatic document feeder 35 pages, while the paper tray underneath the unit holds 150 sheets. You can also specialized paper in the feeder at the rear of the unit, it accepts all standard paper sizes. The front panel includes a multi-format memory card reader, and in any media is inserted into the reader and for each PC connected to the printer, either locally or over the network.

Installation and configuration of the printer is not difficult, but it is time-consuming. Not only do you remove adhesive tape and foam about 25 pieces from all corners of the printer, but you also have a holder for the six ink tanks, and then install the tank yourself, you can calibrate the printer (which takes approximately 9 minutes) and then install the software, which takes about 25 minutes. We followed the included fold-out setup guide, however, and had no problems with any of the steps.

You can use the device on board the controls for copying, faxing, scanning or printing, and you can use the included software, to print from a PC connected either via USB or the network. If you face the printer, you can facilitate the integrated 1.8-inch, together with the well-designed LCD panel, printing features. Although the display provides an intuitive explanation, it is quite small and is usually filled with text, so that it read just a bit heavy.

The MX7600 printed color at a resolution of 4,800 x1, 200 dots per inch (dpi) and black at 600x600dpi. In our tests, prints both color and monochrome looked amazing. Canon claim laser-quality text is not a marketing hype: The edges were crisp, readable text was all the way up was a tiny 3 points on both black and gray backgrounds and colors bright and vivid. Our color test pattern, we found no error whatever text was sharp, the colors were smooth, and blends and shades were perfect, all with not even a hint of banding.

Canon PIXMA MX7600 Review

Scan resolution is 4800 x9, 600dpi, although it lowered to 600x600dpi, if you use the document feeder. Scans looked decent, if we used suffered from text documents, but color photos from dithering. Scanning a document needed only 26 seconds.

In our print speed tests, the MX7600 performed well, although it is not up to Canon’s claim of 23 pages per minute (ppm) color and 28 pages per minute for black and white. It printed our 10-page document images and text in 1 minute and 46 seconds, and it required not formatted 2 minutes and 43 seconds to print 20 pages of monochrome text. These are decent notes by the MX7600 in the middle of the pack for multi-function printer (MFP) that we have tested. The MX7600 was quite fast with photos, even butter a 4×6 in just 38 seconds and a 8×10 in 1 minute and 30 seconds. The only downside was that the printer sometimes took as long as 30 seconds before they are able to start the pressure was.

When it comes to the MX7600 on cost per page, things get a little murky, because printers for photos have differing returns shall be placed on the type of photos and printed the paper used. Canon reports of various side results for different color tanks, but in general the tanks are not too expensive-$ 14.99 per unit for the five-color tanks (cyan, magenta, yellow and two black tanks) and $ 17.99 to be clear ink tank. They will put on it a little more than $ 92 to any container that is not too steep for this market to be replaced.

Although we have been impressed by photo output from Canon printers in the past, we have never seen how they produce text that looks as good as it has from the Pixma MX7600. Sure, it’s expensive, and there is no Wi-Fi option, but the MFP remarkable color accuracy and his all-round excellence has its price certainly seems a bit more reasonable.

Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II Review

November 30th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

Canon to develop preference for further development of existing models, rather than replacing reason is not just for their cameras but also for their printers. The Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is one of the most recent examples. The large-format printer builds on the original Pro9500 success, with 10 cartridges LUCIA pigment ink set, and the ability to print borderless 13 x 19 on a variety of media. The Mark II uses the Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) technology together with a sophisticated 7680-nozzle print head structure to issue exceptional detail and quality. Print Now with the Mark II features such as the possibility of 16-bit files and ambient light correction with Kyuanos technology that allows the user to enter the lighting of a particular pressures prompted to print the color accordingly to compensate will be.

Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II Review

The Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is designed to meet the requirements of photographers and uses a variety of print colors on wide gamut color and smooth tonal gradations in black and white print on both matte and glossy papers to achieve. Impressive, there is no need to ink tanks as with some printers compete for the same market segment focused exchange required. The superiority of this arrangement is obvious, but as a practical matter, it saves time and ink, especially if you frequently alternate printing on matte and photo papers.

This is a serious desktop printers, and it requires a significant commitment of space (7.5″ H 26″ W 14″ D with trays up, 14″ H extended 26″ W 36″ D with trays). be given to accommodate begins Besides the size the printer itself is considered, the space requirements both before and behind the printer to type papers, which are fed in through the front and pulled through the back of the printer before printing. The advantage of feeding the paper through this way that there are not even bend that preserves the coating, but a 13×19-inch Super B sheets greatly expands the back of the printer to achieve this requires some careful consideration on printer placement.

Setting up the printer is relatively easy and little more than placing the print head in the cradle, inserting the ink cartridges and requires installing the included software. Connection to the computer via USB 2.0, which is often for this type of printer, but it would be really nice if manufacturers including Ethernet connectivity would begin at that level, as it makes locating the printer and share it between multiple computers much more convenient . Since the Ethernet connection is available all-in-ones cost a fraction of the price for this printer, it remains a mystery why it is not included on a Pro9500 Mark II.

Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II Review

The printer with the included software to be used can print pictures directly, as well as a Photoshop plug-in, print multiple copies of an image makes it easier on one sheet, print color images in black and white, matching the hue of the pictures, etc., users on the hunt for the plug-in, as it’s gone under File> Automate> Canon Easy Photo Print Pro hidden.

The Pro9500 is Mark II printing process is very flexible, so that both novices and experienced users will make stunning prints with little difficulty. Advanced users will like the degree of control by the printer driver and Adobe Photoshop plug-in grants. The less technically savvy will appreciate the straightforward approach to pressure, that the included software allows. The user can select grayscale printing in the printer driver itself, and even adjust the heat or coolness of the clay. This driver controlled black and white conversion is a fairly good job, but for superior control over the results of converting black and white in Photoshop or Lightroom.

A small quibble I have with the printer driver, the control to turn off color correction, as necessary to the use of ICC profiles, printing a separate window and rider is away from the interface. It would be nice to have a checkbox in the main window instead of digging for it. Since by using ICC profiles, the preferred method for color accuracy, it should be easier to turn off color adjustments and confirm at a glance that, although starting as the consequence of unacceptable not to do print and supply is wasted.

Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II Review

The Canon PIXMA Pro9500 produces brilliant prints Mark II, especially on fine art paper. Canon provides ICC profiles for a number of popular papers, the production of superior prints easier without the need for users created their own profiles. The variety of supported media allows the user to exactly the right paper for each print, an important consideration for Fine Art Printing, which can make the subtle interplay of image and document the difference between a beautiful print and a stunning work of art.

Black and white printing is exceptional, with very smooth transitions and the ability to easily choose between dead-on neutral, cool or warm toned prints courtesy of the black and gray colors. Color printing is also very good, with LUCIA ink set offers a large color space in which to bring the artistic vision expressed. The Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is a good choice for professional photographers and serious amateurs who want to make fine art prints in modest quantities in widths up to 14 inches.

Canon SELPHY ES40 Review

November 22nd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

There is a scene in the futuristic sci-fi film by Woody Allen, Sleeper, where the hero comes home and finds his equipment in the middle of a raging controversy. When we saw the voice button on the front of the SELPHY ES40, we had a bad feeling that the printer was going to wake up and announce: “Hi I’m Phil and I will be your printer today”. Then we would have immediately the manual to disable this function. Fortunately, the voice feature is not unreasonable, the cheeky-sounding female voice (we like our devices calm and docile.) Have just announced that the printing is complete and takes you through some menus.

If you enjoy listening to music on devices (or even if you do not want), this $ 149 Photo Printer is a good investment. It is a competent, compact photo printer, easy to set up and operate, and the print quality is excellent. On the negative side, the cost per photo is high, as with the Canon Selphy CP790 we checked just before this model, particularly in comparison with printers from Epson and Kodak. So you have to pay to society.

Canon SELPHY ES40 Review

The Selphy ES40 looks and feels like a boxy 1950s radio, complete with a handle for hauling to the beach. The front panel sports a 3.5-inch LCD panel and a selection of buttons to access the menu, setting the number of copies, toggle switch and voice guidance, and adjustment to trim. The Creative button allows you to add a variety of special effects, such as Soft Focus, Vignette, pinhole, (Hidden Art) nostalgic, smooth skin (ideal for wrinkle removal), and starlight. Here is where you’ll find a variety of add built-in layouts such as calendars, plus the ability, frames, clip art and word balloons. A major gap software can not shrink to fit an image onto the paper.

Despite what you may think at first glance, the wheel must not vote on the front of a radio, it is to be used by menu options or photos on a memory card. Memory card slots keeps under a sliding panel at the top of the unit, the dust and coffee, make their way into the printer. The connections are on the left side of the printer. Best of all, there is no power brick transformer, only a thin cord that plugs into the back of the unit. Once you have inserted the paper /cartridge pack and attached the power cord (no battery option), you are ready to print.

This Selphy might look like a radio, but the manual explains that it is not within three feet of one may be placed to produce another television or other device, the strong magnetic fields. The printer takes about six inches of additional space on the back for ventilation. You must also leave some play in front of the unit. The photo paper is stored inside the printer in a vertical orientation, and if you make an expression, the hand appeared from a slot in the front, parallel to your desk. The Selphy ES40 then rotates the paper 90 degrees and put it back into the printer. (Oddly, it’s cool to see.)

While you do not need to use a computer to the SELPHY ES40 to print photos, you need to read one of the manual. A 20-page printed Beginner’s Guide covers the main features, but for complete feature coverage, you need to read the PDF manual on the CD. Here are instructions for the additional functions of the printer offers: Cut automatic red-eye correction, image, color correction, layout variation and special effects. You can also calendar pages and sets of passport photos, which are both conveniently integrated into the software.

Canon SELPHY ES40 Review

The Selphy ES40 is particularly easy to load of supplies, as wrap the 50-sheet paper and dye-sublimation cartridge is a unit. Installing the combo is as simple as removing the orange-colored plastic tab and slide the unit into a slot on the right side of the printer. We would like this arrangement because the packages of the portable-printer is especially no need for both cartridges and paper stash and then fumble around with a tray. (The printer does not have to, because the paper is stored inside the device.) The convenience trade-off means that the printer itself is a little bulkier than competing models 9x9x5.4-inch and weighs nearly 5 pounds.

You can use the freedom to print from memory cards, or you can connect it via USB to your computer or camera. (Cables not included, and unfortunately you can not directly from a USB flash drive.) The driver and the Selphy Photo Print Utility installed with no problems, even though the software necessary for us to restart the computer.

SELPHY Photo Print is a very simple application for printing photos, and add simple clip art, speech bubbles, text or images in your photo. This underpowered app can only TrueType fonts, and it seems only photos in the My Pictures folder is a disease that the Selphy CP790 affected. Once you select an image to enlarge a room apply rotation, or let the program automatically adjust the image. There is no way to store preferences or settings, and the selection of another photo means starting all over again. And if you insert a memory card into the printer, you have to leave Photo Print, because the app is not able to find the printer again until you do so.

Because the Selphy uses dye-sublimation technology to print (unlike inkjet), it has the 300x300dpi resolution and 256 levels of color typical snapshot printers that use the technology. The four-color print cartridge also includes a protective layer for each photo so that the prints quite resistant to water and scratches. We carefully positioned a drippy glass at a pressure and left it there for about 20 minutes without damage to the photo. We also have the photo placed face down on a wooden floor and rolled in a chair with no significant damage. Canon claims a 100-year life for the photos if they are stored in the dark, constant exposure reduces service life of 10 years (or 30 years old when they kept under glass).

Canon SELPHY ES40 Review

Each photo has exactly 80 seconds to print when printing from both the computer and in stand-alone mode with an SD card. At that time, compared with less expensive Selphy CP780 Canon (59 seconds for PC-based printing, and 1 minute and 13 seconds in stand-alone mode), because the timing of rotation includes paper and printing. But it is almost twice as long as the more expensive Sony DPP-FP97 Digital Photo Printer (which in 42.6 seconds and 44.8 seconds, or printed).

It was worth the wait, though, because we were impressed with the quality of the photos. We saw clear color, no highlights either washed out or muddy low-lights. Direct printing from a Canon PictBridge camera, computer, or the memory card is no difference in image quality. In all cases, the photographs almost perfect and equal to or better than drugstore prints.

You will see that you pay for convenience here, however, if you compare the cost per print on the prices at your local pharmacy-hour photo service. You can buy Canon 50 Ink Cartridge/Paper Combo Pack for $ 19.99 (40 cents per photo) or buying a more fuel-efficient 100-photo pack for $ 31.99 (32 cents per photo). These prices are quite high with the Epson PictureMate PM260 Dash (25 cents per photo) are compared, but about the same as the Canon Selphy CP790 we reviewed recently. If you feel particularly flush, you can glittering gold or silver images (or clip-art highlights) to offer your photos on special cartridges from Canon to add, do this specifically when you print an image with gold or silver highlights want to load, and they are only usable when printing from a computer. Expect to pay around $ 1 each to pay for these prints, the gold and silver cartridges cost $ 19.99 each.

In fact, the running cost of the device are relatively high. On the other hand, Canon has to offer a one-year warranty for parts and labor, in a world dominated by 90-day warranty. If your printer during this time, and Canon does not interrupt service tech can solve the problem by phone, you will receive a replacement and a prepaid label, the defective unit. Despite the economical software bundle, this printer is a very viable option-if you can afford the media.

Canon Pixma mini320 Review

November 18th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Canon

If you happened to buy a dedicated snapshot printers because of their limited size output, the Canon Pixma Mini320 convince you to take a different view. In addition to the standard 4×6-inch photos, this device can have 5×7-inch prints. Instant gratification is not cheap, however: You will pay more per 4×6 photo, as you might with an online photo lab. But if you long for do-it-yourself comfortable and will not disappoint the Mini320.

Canon Pixma mini320 Review

Measure 8.9×10.2×3.2 cm and weighs only 5.4 kg is the Mini320 as portable as previous snapshot printers. The all-plastic outer shell provides an integrated handle and low profile shape for easy transport and storage, and a battery option enables true go-anywhere print. Break with the trend with a reduced capacity, “starter” cartridge with a new printer, Canon provides a full cartridge when only two 5×7-inch sheets of photo paper.

The printer has two slots for most types of memory cards and USB port for connecting to treat a PictBridge compatible camera or mobile phone. An infrared (IR), you can get photos from mobile phones or PDAs that have a compatible IR port. An optional Bluetooth adapter $ 79.99 lets you wirelessly from a compatible Bluetooth device. (Be sure that your unit has the profile for wireless printing, but most do not.)

Canon Pixma mini320 Review

The Mini320′s biggest drawback is the relatively small 2.5-inch LCD screen. The Epson PictureMate Zoom is 3.6-inch display and HP Photosmart A826 7-inch screen is easier to work with the navigation of the built-in editing tools. The screen has a wide viewing angle makes (170 degrees), urging it convenient for family members themselves. If the Mini320 only plan with the computer, the LCD size does not matter, but if you use it mostly in the stand-alone operation plan, consider the screen size (just like the competition) to check before you buy.

Because you are free to combine print 4×6 and 5×7-inch photos, it is difficult to put a price per photo. Canon estimates its $ 16.99 ink cartridge will give 60-70 5×7-inch prints (which works to about 26 cents each) or 110 4×6-inch prints (about 15 cents each). This cost does not include paper that $ 7.99 for 20 5×7-inch boards running (about 40 cents each) and $ 12.49 for 50 4×6-inch plates (about 25 cents each). This brings the total cost per print to about 66 cents for a 5×7-inch print and 40 cents for 4x6s. The 4×6 costs a lot more expensive than the 15 cents a typical online photo service charges, but 5x7s are cheap.

Canon Pixma mini320 Review

The Mini320 well measured in our time. Startup time, 3 seconds was fast. Canon claims a 40-second waiting period from the sheet into the printer until the photo is complete. We measured 4×6 print times of 58 seconds at highest quality mode and 33 seconds for standard quality. With 5×7 photos, the times were 78 seconds for the highest quality and 46 seconds for the standard quality.

While the printed photos exhibited superb detail (at 9,600 x2, 400 dots per inch) and nicely saturated colors, some of the photos had a slight reddish tinge. They were also a bit darker and sometimes a bit more contrast was printed as the same images with the Epson PictureMate Zoom. This was a preproduction unit, and Canon says that these questions should not be a problem when the printer ships to the public. On the positive side, the Mini320 led better than the PictureMate Zoom with the fine lines on our test network. His print work was incredibly precise placement of ink dots in exactly where they were actually positioned. Canon rates the longevity of his photographs than 100 years in an album, 30 years in a glass frame, or 10 years outdoors. Although respectable, these numbers are not as good as the longevity ratings PictureMate printer from Epson.

While the LCD is smaller than we would prefer, it is the printed photographs that matter and the Pixma Mini320′s 5×7-inch photos, a proportionately greater impact than a standard will have 4×6-inch photos.
