HP Officejet 7500A Review

February 3rd, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet, Printer Reviews

The HP Officejet 7500A is an A3 inkjet multifunction printer with wireless networks, a series of online applications that can print a professional home or business users, and fast speeds for both A3 and A4 text documents. The quality is mediocre in design mode, but it is fast. Closer normal quality offers a remarkable increase in brightness.

Design and connectivity

The HP Officejet 7500A is a large printer – needs to fit into an automatic document feeder, flatbed scanner, A3 printer. It requires no paper out the back, so it can be placed against a wall or partition. It was disappointing not to automatic duplex printing, built in it, and the input paper tray capacity is low (a maximum of only 150 sheets). Setting the printer up is a simple task thanks to an on-screen guide and easy to understand interface, with the whole setup process, including installing any driver under 10 minutes.

Any home office or small business should be more than happy with the range of the HP Officejet 7500A of connectivity. USB 2.0 is fine for connecting a single PC, but the inclusion of wired Ethernet and wireless 802.11n networks mean larger offices are easily imagined. A fax is also built.

Print quality, print speed, ink and features

The HP Officejet 7500A is a versatile printer for documents up to A3 size. It is able to quickly print in draft mode, with 33 black or 32 color pages per minute. For higher quality documents, the normal mode, an output of 10 ppm black and 7 ppm color. For unimportant documents – e-mails, memos and prints will soon be recycled – Draft mode is perfectly acceptable. Text as small as 8pt easy to read despite being a bit blurry and a 50 page print-run, we were able to reach up to 30ppm for both color and black and white text.

HP Officejet 7500A Review

Normal quality documents are printed much slower – we managed 8 black and 5 color pages over one minute of the printing press. However, the text is much clearer and slightly more saturated. We want documents printed in normal mode for archival purposes or presentations.

Despite being designed as a document printer for offices, we were impressed by the quality of the photos we printed on A3 and A4 with the HP Officejet 7500A. Printing such large plates often uses ink, but the results are respectable: good detail, even saturation and color accuracy. Dark black areas may tend to have slightly blue-gray appearance.

We see a use for the integrated HP ePrint service for small businesses. If you have a memo, e-mail or document on a computer that is not directly connected to the network of the HP Officejet 7500A is easy to send it to the Officejet 7500A e-mail address and have it printed automatically. Setting up HP ePrint is simple – a few clues to the printer and a PC-based short online application process are all that is needed to enable the email-to-print service. It is easy to use online interface and keeps records and senders, but we do have a few teething problems printing images via e-mail attachments.

HP Officejet 7500A Review

The HP Officejet 7500A uses four ink cartridges, allowing you to change individual color ink tanks without wasting time. You can buy standard or extra large black ink tanks for $ 27 and $ 42, while the color tanks are available only in an extra large for $ 21 each. Page with a nominal yield of 420 pages of the standard black cartridge, the HP Officejet 7500A has a running cost of 6.4 cents per A4 sheet. Buying an oversized cartridge reduces running costs for the black ink on a very low 3.5 cents per page. Color ink is also cheap – at $ 63 for all three cartridges with a yield of 700 pages per cartridge, a single color page will cost 3 cents and a full color page 9cents.

Conclusion

If you’re a small company and need A3 printing, you’d be hard-pressed to a different printer that a better value proposition than the HP Officejet 7500A offers available. If automatic duplex printing is not important and you can handle the small tray, the sign to the other box we look for in a multifunction inkjet printer.

HP Officejet 4500 Review

January 24th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet, Printer Reviews

You would probably expect a SOHO all-in-one printer with Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and fax facilities to cost more than $200, but the HP Officejet 4500 (a brand new model, which is currently not on sale) will be available at about $150. On paper it is a great deal but it can deliver both quality and value?

This is a good looking device, as long as you are fond of glossy black plastic. The top of the severely curved case and the tray for the ADF are glossy, while the front body is ribbed, making it a bit of character.

HP Officejet 4500 Review

Projecting from the front of the machine, on the left side there is a small, well-designed control panel, centered on a single line, 16-character LCD. This screen also shows a number of symbols to indicate the mode the device is enabled and the status of terms like “low ink” or “open”. Controls include a simple menu navigation and a number pad for fax dialing.

There are no memory sockets, which is fair enough on a machine designed for home office tasks, but it would have been good to see a compromise, with a front-panel USB / Pictbridge connection so you could print from USB drives and cameras.

The paper tray clips to the front of the machine and a further paper format should be drawn from the front lip to capture printed pages. Feed the front pages are rolled and finally at the top of the input stack. As with other inexpensive HP ink jets, giving the machine a relatively large footprint when in use. There is no cover for the paper, so you may need to save the paper away if you do not want to print.

At the rear, a USB connection and others for third-party phone line and handset. Most people will have to choose the wireless connection, which comes as standard and is easy to set up, as long as you OfficeJet 4500 position close enough to your PC temporarily connect the supplied USB cable.

HP Officejet 4500 Review

The setup is automatic and includes HP applets to scan and OCR a version of IRIS. Cartridge installation is a bit awkward, as the two cartridges (one black and the other three-color) slide horizontally and then click in the right position in the main carrier. The whole of the front folds down for access to the print mechanism.

When the ISO standard for speeds came out, we were hopeful manufacturers would a more realistic approach to specifying rates. Most are still indicating design speeds, and HP claims 28ppm for black and 22 ppm color of this machine.

In practice and in normal print mode, we saw 5.0ppm for our 5-page black text document, which took exactly one minute to run, and 6.1ppm for the 20-page one, which took 3:16. Our 5-page black text and color graphics test took 1:54, with a speed of 2.6ppm. A single page, A4 color copy took 44 seconds and a 15 x 10cm photo print on A4 paper in 1:12.

These speeds are pretty good for one machine and would offer customers a much better idea of the expected day-to-day performance of this all-in-one than stupid, bloated, design speeds of little value, other than putting big numbers on the box.

HP Officejet 4500 Review

We achieve a good print of the HP OfficeJet 4500 inkjet printers and expect not disappoint. Black text is generally clear and well defined, but there are one or two places where characters are a little choppy, due to a slight feathering.

Color images on plain paper are clear and dense and there is no sign of banding or noticeable dither patterns. Our color copy was remarkably close to the original, with a lot less lighter in color than we normally see from this class of machine. The photo print was excellent, with great image detail, good colors and smooth transitions from one state to another. For a machine where the photo printing is not a primary function, this is a very good result.

The Officejet 4500 is an impressively quiet machine, with little maintenance of the presses and sounds of the recent HP all-in-ones. The scanner head sounds a bit graunchy when they are driven to the end of the flatbed before scanning, but other than that you can not find the machine intrusive.

There are only two consumables to consider the black and tri-color cartridges, and if you shop around you can for about $14 (very yield black) and $19 (color), reducing the cost per page of 3.5p for 7.2p for black and color, both in-0.7p for paper. The black print cost is a bit above average, but the color cost is offset by a bit.

Conclusion

The HP Officejet 4500 has a very good compromise between price and feature set. A four-function all-in-one for less than $200 is a good deal, but often you sacrifice image quality, print speed and operating costs. Here, though, you have a very good print quality, above average speed and reasonable cost of ownership, which makes it an excellent choice for a SOHO office on a budget.

HP Officejet 6500A Plus Review

January 5th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

The HP Officejet 6500A Plus E-All-In-One inkjet MFP offers a wide range of all-in-one features, easy installation and user interface. It lets you print content using HP Web apps without connecting to a computer, and through HP’s ePrint you can e-mail documents directly to print. For its wealth of features, combined with a solid output speed and quality and no significant flaws, the 6500A earns the Editors’ Choice for a reasonable price MFP for a small or home office (or dual-purpose printer for home and office ).

HP Officejet 6500A Plus Review

The 6500A is the successor of the HP Officejet Wireless 6500. Along with some minor improvements like a better screen, the most important change is that the new model is part of HP’s e-All-In-One line. This means that documents can use HP’s Web Apps printing without connecting to a computer. The apps that cover everything from the possibility of coupons business forms, color book pages are printed with Disney characters. If an e-All-In-One model, it gives you HP ePrint feature that lets you print via e-mail: You e-mail an image to a printer-specific e-mail address supplied by HP, and the printer will output, even when the printer in your office and you’re halfway around the world.

This MFP with a glossy black curved frame measures 18.7 by 17.7 by 10.2 inches (HWD) and weighs 18.2 pounds. A 250-sheet (that fits to legal size paper) is sufficient for micro-or home office (or home setting), and surpasses many of his peers. An automatic duplexer enables printing on both sides of a sheet of paper. A 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF) lets you copy or scan multi-page documents.

Built into the front panel is a 2.3-inch color touch screen, with the main menu screen with icons identified by the choices copying, faxing, scanning and Apps. The display with an alphanumeric keypad on the right side remains dark until called into use. Both the touchpad and the HP software to help you determine MFP functions of your computer are refreshingly simple and straightforward interface.

The 6500A printing, copying, scanning and faxing, and works as a standalone copier or fax. It can scan to fax directly from the front of the printer and fax from a document on your computer (PC Fax). The touchpad can scan to your default mail client. You can scan an image directly into a program like Photoshop that TWAIN and WIA drivers, while in that program. You can use a file to a memory card (as a PDF or JPEG) and print from a card most significant memory card formats are supported or on a computer. The only option I found myself missing is the ability to scan or print from a USB key, which we see in many MFPs, both business and consumer models in its price range.

HP Officejet 6500A Plus Review

There is a USB 2.0 port on the back of the 6500A, but it’s a style a printer solely for connecting to your computer. You can also connect via Ethernet or built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi. We tested the MFP over an Ethernet connection to a computer running Windows Vista. It comes with drivers for Win XP (32 bit), both 32 – and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and 7 and Mac OS X v. 10.5.8 and 10.6. You can also download a full set of drivers for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 (32 – and 64-bit) and Linux printing and scanning drivers on the HP website.

Setup was simple and straightforward. The MFP uses four ink cartridges: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. (It fits either a small or large black cartridge.) Develop and test the fax function is integrated into the setup function, a nice touch.

Performance

Using QualityLogic’s hardware and software, I have the 6500A on our business applications suite, timed a total of 11 minutes 35 seconds. This was a tad faster than the HP 6500, which ended at 11:52, and the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-In-One, which took 12:38. The 6500A Speed is average for an inkjet MFP, the Epson WorkForce 610 is a speed demon at 8:39, but times slower than 15 minutes are not uncommon.

The 6500A average 1 minute 5 seconds to print 4-by-6 photos at 2:30 and outputting an 8-by-10 print, almost identical to 1:07 and 2:29 on HP Premium Fax’s scores and very similar to the HP 6500 Wireless’s 1:12 and 2:27. Unlike its timing Stellar Business, the Epson 610 with 2:06 and 4:42 limped photo prints scores.

Quality

The 6500A’s print quality for text, graphics and photos were all typical for an inkjet MFP. In our text tests, all but one font were readable and well formed at 12 points, all fonts were readable at 12 points. The text is fine for most schoolwork or internal business documents, but not good enough for formal documents to impress.

Graphics were good enough for most business applications, including PowerPoint handouts. Some images showed evidence of banding (horizontal stripes), others had little dithering (the breaking up of solid areas in spots), and thin lines are not clearly see, a common problem among the printers.

Photos were of a typical drugstore quality prints, with some minor flaws. For example, a monochrome photograph showed a light shade and poor contrast, and other print showed signs of dithering. Photos are reasonably waterproof and scratch resistant, as Officejet inks are primarily used for printing business, HP has no information regarding key sustainability.

The HP Officejet 6500A E-Plus All-In-One earns the Editors’ Choice for the wide range of MFP functions, paper handling, ease of use, solid performance and quality. There are faster inkjet MFPs for printing business (the Epson WorkForce 610) and those with a slightly better picture quality (the WorkForce 610 and the HP Photosmart Premium Fax). But do not offer a well rounded package for the price, and Web apps HP and ePrint functionality icing on the cake.

HP Officejet 6500 Review

December 30th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

HP Officejet 6500 color inkjet multifunction printer (MFP) finally has a serious competitor to the Canon Pixma MX700 and other models that usually dominate our chart rankings. The two machines are comparable in speed and price, but the Officejet 6500 wins hands down in design and color in the cost per page.

HP Officejet 6500 Review

In our speed tests, the Photosmart 6500 printed text was clear at a speed of 11.7 pages per minute (ppm), and its color output as quickly as 3.2 ppm – faster than average, but well below the advertised motor HP speeds of 32 ppm for monochrome and 31 ppm for graphics. Photos looked smooth and detailed. Some colors fell to the dark side of the natural range and skin tones often appeared orange. Scans happened slowly, and there was little sharpness, but the color balance was generally good.

Photosmart Essentials offers photo-editing and organization tools. The Solutions Center, the help section contains an extensive library of manuals and troubleshooting animations.

Characteristics of the Officejet 6500 unit we looked at included a 250-sheet input tray, 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), and an automatic duplex unit. The input tray, a variety of media, including 4-of-6-inch photo paper legal size paper. The 150-sheet output tray (on the lid of the tray) support legal paper – even though the extensions of the length of support are a bit thin. All other components are robust and well. Ethernet, USB, and wireless connections are standard. The Canon Pixma MX700 is equipped with two 150-sheet input trays, but it lacks duplex printing or wireless.

HP sells ink cartridges for the Photosmart 6500 in standard and high-yield variables (the printer comes with the standard-size). All are distinguished by color to their slots instructions. Prices for the standard ink cartridge are average, but the high-yield versions are impressively low: 2.7 cents per page for black text and 9.1 cents per page in color.

The HP Officejet 6500 strikes an impressive balance of performance, usability and features at an aggressive price. It is robust enough for a small office with moderate power needs support, and it is easy to install and use, with excellent software support.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus Review

December 23rd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

The HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus color inkjet multifunction printer (for printing, copying, scanning and faxing), flights are about $ 500, but you get a lot for the money. It is a complete small office machine with excellent speed and print quality and low ink costs. The machine-touch control and legal-size scanner raise above competing models like the Canon Pixma MX870.

The glossy, could see all-black Officejet Pro 8500A Plus a bit like something from a science fiction movie, but there is nothing to use alien. The entire panel from the large, 2.4-inch color LCD controls to the surrounding (light up only when necessary), is sensitive to touch. The menus are displayed on the LCD down logically.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus Review

Paper-handling features include a front-side 250-sheet cassette and a 150-sheet output tray directly above. Automatic duplexing for printing, copying and scanning mentioned, the latter of the two 35-sheet automatic document feeder. Most ADFs scan legal size, but the Officejet Pro 8500A Plus flatbed scanner legal size as well. To download digital images, you can use the USB/PictBridge port or memory card slots for MMC, MS/Duo and SD cards.

HP installation software made up the 8500A Plus a breeze, even if we connect the printer wirelessly. Bundled with the multi-function printer, the IRIS OCR software and HP Print Software Market Splash are for use with the Online Document Design Center. HP Unified control center application handles general printing, copying, scanning and homework.

The Officejet Pro 8500A Plus is also ePrint capability, meaning you can use the MFP to send print jobs as an attachment via e-mail, and it has digested the access to web-based applications from HP for printing of a growing variety of things, including news , puzzles, movie tickets and cards.

The help files, the installer usually very good. They consist of an HTML-based user guide, sprinkled liberally with helpful, animated how-to’s. The guide includes two different versions, so we were surprised that one of the few things was not represented, how to find out which model number you had.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus Review

Speed and print quality gloss on the Officejet Pro Plus 8500A. Crisp-looking plain-text pages from the machine at 9.3 ppm and 10.6 ppm on the Mac sprinted through Windows. Snapshot-size photos took about 4 ppm on letter-size plain paper and a little less than 2 ppm on letter-size from HP’s own photo paper. A 22MB high-resolution photo took almost 3 minutes to either print from your Mac or PC.

Regardless of platform or the type of paper, photo quality was smooth and detailed, with a slightly cool, but mostly accurate color palette for orange Fleshtones in plain-paper prints to save. We noticed little difference in the results when we moved from the default printer settings and higher quality settings. Copies were made quickly, slowed down as well as previews scan, but full scans to average speeds only. Copies retained colors and sharpness even for the most part, but color scans looked a bit murky.

Ink typically costs go down as printer prices, and this is certainly the case. With the standard $ 26 black (1000 pages) and $ 20 cyan, magenta, and yellow (900 pages), black costs 2.6 cents per page, and each color costs 2.2 cents per page. A four-color page would cost only 9.3 cents. The higher yield cartridge (a 2200-page black for $ 36 and 1400-page color for $ 26 each), these figures fall to 1.6 cents per page for black and 1.9 cents per page for each color, resulting in cost for a four-color page only 7.2 cents. Note that your print volume is low, it will not pay for cartridges that run out before you can buy them empty.

The HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus can cost a lot of money, but the features and performance justify the investment. They are also over time to save the colors.

HP OfficeJet H470b Review

November 17th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

For those who travel a lot and need to print the short term, the H470 offers the perfect solution. It is small and portable but still an excellent quality text. With the additional options of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, the printer is extremely versatile.

HP OfficeJet H470b Review

The H470 is the latest business-focused mobile printer from HP and it is the successor of 460cb. While there are some minor improvements that we would like to see there is little about the H470b aversion. It is one of the most versatile and portable printers on the market for people on the go.

Weighing 2.27kg and with dimensions slightly larger than an A4 sheet of paper, the H470 for portability. The printer is packaged with a leather case for extra protection. This can be on the printer while you are left, even though it requires changing the ink cartridges can be removed.

The H470 connectivity is impressive. The retail model only allows a standard USB connection, but users have the ability to separate purchasing dongles Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity to allow. It is turn on a built-in Wi-Fi profile of the printer. This allows users to save up to three different wireless profiles. We would like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are built directly into the unit, rather than optional add-ons have.

HP OfficeJet H470b Review

Mobility is replaceable by the H470′s 2300mAh Li-ion battery, which HP claims is to print up to 480 pages per battery charge (charging it takes two hours) is maximized. This assessment is based on a USB port and the pressure to normal is based, real use will probably result in less electricity consumption. The majority of our testing was done either via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, but even then we have managed to almost 75 pages to print on different qualities before the battery ran out. required given the relatively short charge time, the battery will be enough for most daily business and travel tasks, although it requires a nightly charge for heavy use.

Print speeds were slower than conventional printers, but still acceptable. Draft quality text documents printed at 5.7 pages per minute, normal quality printed pages at 2 ppm, which is slightly faster than the 460cb. Text documents with color graphics were slightly slower: 5.9ppm at draft quality and 2.3ppm at standard conditions. Standard 4x6in photos printed in 1min 40sec. The printer’s small size prevents it is in competition with conventional printers and multi-functions in terms of speed, but for mobile use is more than acceptable.

HP OfficeJet H470b Review

Quality was very impressive. Unlike some of the issues that we had text accuracy with the HP, had documents from the H470b clear readable text that is not chaotic. Color was a bit overdone, this can be explained by the use of a two-ink system. It is clear that HP does not promote the H470 as a regular photo printer – the included software is not allowed A4 photo printing – although make it to the printer for marketing materials in-house supports. Just colors were easily printed by the H470, but it had some problems with photos integrated into documents – even the simplest images showed a high level of banding. 4x6in photos were not as vulnerable to this problem, although it has a low strip obtained. Better handling of banding issues would have been grateful, but the text H470b results are sufficient for business use.

The H470 is one of the most efficient printers from HP, with the cost per page of 20c. Page yields are for normal use, and an optional accessory allows ink holder inks opened are kept safe if necessary.

HP Officejet 7000 Review

November 5th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

One of the attractions of today’s high-quality desktop printers is that they are up professional-looking marketing materials without having to pay a commercial printer. But there may be a limit to the brochures, flyers and other promotional materials you create in your own house if your house only stocks letter and U.S. legal.

HP Officejet 7000 Review

Stepping up to ledger or tabloid or B-size (all terms for 11 – 17″), you can easily desktop-publishing pages that fold in half to a 8.5 to take advantage of 11-inch-Newsletter and for printing tables that give your accounting, the big picture. Going even higher, up to 13 – by 19-inch or A3 + media, offering more flexibility in the production of marketing materials – think small signage or motivational posters.

Wide Body printers are still considered exotic and vaguely niche-y, not to mention expensive to buy and operate seen. HP aims to update, with the Officejet 7000, shipping for $ 279. The company calls the 7000 its first entry-level wide format printer with print quality plus the individual inks – separate cyan, magenta, yellow and black tanks instead of black and tricolor ink cartridges.

At first glance, to be sure, one might think that the 13 – by 19-inch capable Officejet resembles not so much a printer for everyone as a printer for Batman – is sitting it is easy to imagine the glossy black hulk in the Batcave, next BatPC and the pressure Batbrochures. The main unit is about 23 – by 16 – by 17-inches, but when extended, extend its 150-sheet input tray and 100-sheet output tray, a good 15 inches from the machine wide mouth, contributing to its imposing appearance.

Paper – any size from 3 – by 5 – to 13 – by 19-inch, borderless (in print-shop lingo, borderless printing) for all – face down in the lower bowl to see it open exit on the multilevel upper compartment. We did not experience a single hook or jam in our test, but we are disappointed that there was no straight paper path for signage or other heavy stick, HP list of supported media lists nothing heavier than brochure paper and film. Can the printer back, but we suspect change to accommodate the potential for future option of a duplex unit as a backflip on the paper.

HP Officejet 7000 Review

We are happy to report, however, that the 7000 takes the same 920 HP Officejet 6500 series ink cartridges as printer/copier/scanner/fax. This means that using the 920XL high-capacity cartridges at $ 32 for black and $ 15 for each yellow, cyan and magenta prices, you have cost the same ink as the 6500 view – 2.7 per cent Black and 9, 1 cent per 8.5 x 11-inch color page.

These are very economical figures by color laser, inkjet let alone, Standards: Always, if you can come away with a color page in the hand less than a penny – heck, for less than a penny and a nickel – you are better than the owner of many desktop printer. Practically speaking, you are there good enough to make it to sit from cheap copy paper to the coated paper, that all inkjet printers and makes merry twinkle or clean and update.

HP boasts that the Officejet 7000 can save money on lasers when it comes to energy consumption, drawing a maximum of 48 watts and less than three watts in standby. Both USB 2.0 and Ethernet interfaces standard, and the printer is a robust duty cycle is 7,000 pages per month.

As far as print quality and speed goes, there is a Fast Draft mode is suited for in-house proofing – it printed our unilateral business letter with spot-color company logo in a fast 12 seconds and 20 pages of black text in one minute and 13 seconds was relatively pale and nervous.

HP Officejet 7000 Review

Normal mode produces quality text on plain paper, which looked pretty sharp in sizes as small as six points on plain paper, we almost cheap four-point type with the use of either serif fonts or inkjet paper. Our one-page letter and 20-page Word document printed in 18 seconds and just over two minutes, each with our 55-page Acrobat PDF file under eight minutes and 41 seconds.

Colors were bright, but solid colors showed traces of stripe. The change from level to inkjet both text and colors really pop, but not completely eliminate the banding in solid bars and pie chart segments. This does not prevent us, but for the evaluation of HP output quality as good to very good.

On the same scale, photo quality awards as well to the printer’s best quality mode and glossy paper – lasted from 6-inch borderless prints about 70 seconds per piece, with both sharp details and natural colors – 4. We ran a few 11-17 inch full-bleed images, which showed comparable quality, and lasted nearly four and a half minutes.

Overall, we believe the Officejet 7000 makes a good case for itself, with one possible exception: if you can settle for only a USB port without network sharing, undercuts HP small and medium sized businesses website, the new widescreen Tracker by discounting the older Officejet Pro K8600.

HP Officejet 7000 Review

The K8600 promises even lower cost per page (HP Marketing Metrics showed: The brand advertises Officejet up to 40 percent lower cost than comparable laser, the Officejet Pro line up to 50 percent) with the added benefit of a straight paper path. There is also an Ethernet and duplex unit equipped HP K8600DN model, but discounted, it is a step up to 329 $.

Either way, HP is making it hard, large-format printing fear. Get out and start your own marketing materials. If Batman can do it, so can you.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Review

November 3rd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

Once you get over the sticker shock may Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Pro 8500 is a multifunction printer and seem to be like a good deal. In addition to providing good print and scan quality excellent, moderate speed and trouble-free operation that is easy to use OfficeJet Pro 8500 one of the least expensive to operate color inkjet All-in-one. It also comes with a variety of software and Web-based services that further extend its usefulness.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Review

The large, angular, black-gray OfficeJet Pro 8500 has a heavy all-business look that does not win any beauty contests, especially compared with other recent inkjet MFPs, such as the Epson Artisan 800th But under the hood are several refinements that make use of the PhotoSmart 8500 is a pleasure. For starters, the scan bed is large enough to 8.5×14 inch paper with no double-scanning and document sew legal size to accommodate. The 250-sheet paper cassette is so accessible that a separate slot or feeder is not necessary. If you need more capacity side, the 8500 can accommodate a second 250-sheet tray ($ 79.99). What is more, can the receiver angled tray top to top, with an adjustable pull-out, so that ejected or not slip and drift away. It also has a built-in duplexer, a 35-sheet ADF, and an e-mail feature you can operate without a computer.

The 8500′s touch-screen control panel is one of the best we have used. It is large (3.5 inches), easy to use as a GPS reading, and so intuitive that you really do not understand the manual and use it for study all its functions. On the right side of the screen displays are lit when the network or wireless interface is available. The function keys are intelligently placed and well marked. On the right side of the printer memory card and USB slots for direct printing, and for saving scans, photos and files.

Be prepared to spend between 45 minutes to an hour setting up the printer and installing software. First, you must attach the receiver tray and a plastic cover for the duplex unit. You then add the two print heads (one black and yellow, cyan and magenta, the other) of cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink cartridges followed. Everyone should only fit in the correct slot, but food and drives them into the right can be tricky.

The cartridges have a larger capacity reservoir of ink than most comparable MFPs, which makes them significantly cheaper than comparable inkjet AIOs. (Plus, you do not need to replace them so often.) High-color cartridges ($ 25.99 each) are rated for 1,400 pages, while the additional capacity black cartridge ($ 35.99) for about 2,200 pages is designed. This corresponds to about 1.6 cents per page for text and 7 cents for color ink costs, plus another two tenths cents for print head wear ($ 59.99 each) that are replaced after about 40 500 pages have. In addition, HP said that the Energy Star-rated 8500 consumed 50 percent less power than a laser printer.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Review

Once installed, the printer 20 to 25 minutes to automatically align and calibrate the printheads. And since HP offers a wide range of programs, templates and utilities, software installation is also time consuming. The only problem was when we setup the brochure that the firewall should not be turned off during installation of the 8500 as a network or wireless device, said followed. Our installation failed twice, until we consulted the 291-page manual, in contrast to the setup booklet, called on us to turn off the firewall, that it works properly.

Other than a few cryptic messages and accompanying short delays (waiting for a color photo to dry, clean the print head, after we switched from the text photo printing), the company was fine. We experienced no paper jams paper jams or other problems. HP interface is exceptionally easy to use, especially since the settings automatically for different types of originals and paper program in the appropriate parameters.

Print text in normal and draft mode is relatively fast, displacement Epson WorkForce 600 and the Kodak ESP 9th Our test page of text scanned in 14.1 seconds and a 4×6-inch photo in 1 minute and 9 seconds. Printing 10 pages of text and graphics in draft mode only lasted 36 seconds, although the quality text mode slows the printer to clock 04.20 (just a hair faster than the Epson WorkForce 600). Our 20-page plain text document in a quick 1:03 print in draft mode, even though it was 5:29 in Quality mode. A 4×6-inch photo was slower than both Epson and Kodak printer ESP9 1.09. In general, we found the 8500 to be slower (with quality mode), as the Epson, but better than the Kodak. Ink on plain paper is also faster than the Epson and Kodak models, but much slower than in the generation of photos.

Text quality is very good, with dark and mostly well-educated characters, but it’s not as sharp and clean as the rival of some AIOs. Although bright colors are punched-up and inaccurate, they are more suitable for business graphics than photos. Scanning and copying are easy, quick and easy. Our test scan to Microsoft Word without error. Particularly useful is the e-mail feature that scans all wireless pre-selected address.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 Review

Where the OfficeJet Pro 8500 is characterized in its value-added extras. HP offers a comprehensive suite of free software and Web-based services designed to help companies in the production, storage, transmission and management of documents. The software includes a utility for clipping, collecting and printing parts of web pages, a recreation center with dozens of business and personal projects and templates and an online document center that AIDS scanning, annotations, faxing and archiving of documents of all kinds.

The OfficeJet Pro 8500 is to give a no-nonsense, all-business unit that offers excellent service to small offices and home-office workgroups. The purchase price is high, but low operating costs could make to 8500 ultimately cheaper than the competition.

HP H470wbt Officejet Review

November 1st, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

Hewlett-Packard recently launched its Officejet H470 Mobile Printer series, an update to its line of portable inkjet printers. The models range from $ 224 to $ 314, which is not cheap, if the majority of home inkjet printers cost less than $ 100. The print quality is also unsatisfactory, which was no surprise but still disappointing. We wish we could speak better of H470, the highest-end model in the line, but this new model is an unimpressive update – you’d be better off purchasing its previous incarnation, the HP Deskjet 460c discounted, at a price.

HP H470wbt Officejet Review

The casing of the Officejet H470 is almost identical to the 460c, but this time HP went with a matte black finish instead of silver. Aesthetically, we really enjoy the design of the H470. The corners are contoured and the flaps all neatly fold into the body. If everything is closed, it’s looks very rugged – if Batman needed a mobile printer, his search would end.

The printer has most of the necessary ports, like PictBridge USB, standard USB and SD/miniSD/MMC slot, but lacks the older model compact flash port. This is not a big problem, since most digital point-and-shoot cameras SD use or Memory Stick, but users with DSLRs, should use the CF card in the direction of a photo-specific traveler like the HP Photosmart A826, that our editors views won ‘Choice last fall.

The Officejet H470 is compact and only slightly smaller than a normal desktop printer, measuring 3.25 inches high, 13.4 cm wide and 6.45 inches deep. At 4.5 pounds, it is portable enough to fit in a handbag or a briefcase, but you will not want to wear it all day. The most expensive model in the series and a protective layer of vinyl with cutouts for the various ports, but there is no handle or a place to store the cables. There are three models in the Officejet H470 series, and each price jump adds more hardware and versatility. HP omits an IrDA port from the H470s, but if you are dead set on traveling without wires, you can also purchase an 802.11 b/g adapter from HP (which is not included in the series). To accommodate this option, HP built a network switch on the back of the unit, which is useful for people who constantly travel between their home, office and remote networks.

HP H470wbt Officejet Review

The H470′s top cover pops open to reveal the paper input. Similar to the 460c, the investor only to 50 sheets of paper, but adequate for printing in a pinch and still more than the Canon Pixma iP90v that can only hold 30 sheets is. We would like to see a foldout corral arm to catch the prints as they are released from the machine, but the H470 reserves to cover its shallow paper output. We also found a similar paper handling problem that we had with the 460c – it was a hard time receiving individual sheets of 4×6-inch photo paper when a larger one was inserted into the feed pile. The arm mechanism bother to recognize the smaller size and tried to “pick up” the larger 8×10-inch size – after several tries, it gave up and a red LED lights on the control panel. The problem disappeared when we cut the stack in half.

The H470 uses two cartridges, one for black ink and another tri-color cartridge. HP offers a compatible black inkjet cartridge, produce reports that will produce 500 prints for $ 19.99, on average 3.9 cents per page. The color cartridge is in regular (330 prints) and high-capacity (600 prints) for $ 24.99 and $ 34.99, on average, 7.5 cents or 5.8 cents per side. These costs are also within the average price and yield for desktop inkjet printers. However, we do that HP had an ink-saving feature like the Canon Pixma iP90v that gives you three options for printing either straight black, save black mode, or composite black.

After to Labs’ speed tests, the H470 printed 5.51 pages of black text per minute, an entire page remained. IP90v per minute faster than its predecessor and slightly slower than the Canon presentation, graphics and photos speeds the same, something predatory competition in the presentation and graphics and lagging a few seconds for photos.

HP H470wbt Officejet Review

We were surprised that the H470′s printed in substantially the quality deteriorated in comparison with those of the 460c. The 460c showed sharp characters and dark black lines, but our H470 printed letters with visibly fuzzy edges and blurred text in larger fonts. Bold and light graphics were even worse. Dots appeared on thicker edges and picture outlines looked jagged and marred by long vertical lines across the page. The 4×6-inch test pictures we printed out were smooth, but the colors were flat and lacked saturation, casting a gray shadow over the images. Within the driver settings, HP offers a feature called RLT, or Real Life Technologies that supposedly helps printed images look like in real life. We have this option useful in portraits, but the general quality of our images were poorly done, with HP Premium Plus paper and high-set ink.

HP Officejet Pro 8000 Review

October 28th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP Officejet

With the Officejet Pro L7590 and Officejet Pro K5400, proved that HP inkjet printers can compete with laser printers. The HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 serves as further proof.

This color inkjet printer has features that rival HP Color LaserJet CP2025n offers automatic duplex printing as standard with Ethernet and USB connectivity.

HP Officejet Pro 8000 Review

The separation of ink from the printhead into the Officejet Pro 8000 – feeding ink through small tubes between two components – HP can use larger cartridges without heavy pressure head. This has significant advantages: High-yield cartridges are quoted at 1,400 pages for each of the color cartridges and 2,200 pages for black. The printer is a consumable costs 14.2c per A4 page to make it available to one of the cheapest inkjets, if more expensive laser printers can also manage 3-4c per page. The feature set and ink delivery system do to the HP Officejet Pro 8000 footprint while adding. It is 494mm wide and 680mm deep, almost installed with a duplex unit and trays fully extended (it is not very large, however).

The input tray on the Officejet Pro 8000 inkjet printer can hold up to 250 A4 sheets at the same time, and it can be extended to allow paper, without the Stacker Lift to be replenished. Unfortunately, the tray of the printer is only by small impacts, it is easily connected from.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 is slow to initiate work, taking an average of 18-20 seconds to print the first page of a document, but subsequent pages are very fast for an inkjet printer. In draft mode, printing mono documents at an average speed of 22.3 pages per minute, while in normal quality this drops to 15.8ppm (which is still pretty fast). 22.2ppm color documents in draft and 9.2ppm in normal type.

HP Officejet Pro 8000 Review

Although the OfficeJet Pro 8000 inkjet printer is not presented to the consistent speed of laser printers, print speeds up the design rivals the likes of the HP Color LaserJet CP3505dn. Also photo printing is fast, with about 29sec for a standard 4x6in print and 1min 9sec for an A4 photograph.

Mono documents from the HP Officejet Pro 8000 have not quite the accuracy of the documents produced by laser printers, although text is still legible in 7pt. The printer produces slightly small signs, normal and large font sizes feathered – laser printer still hold a clear advantage in black and white printing.

Color quality is much better. Apart from blues, some tend to pale, the HP Officejet Pro 8000 inkjet printer produces excellent color palette, with precise red, green and yellow, although it still lacks the details that make for excellent photos. Color documents and photos are both vibrant and attractive, the only thing that prevents us from recommending the HP Officejet Pro 8000 is a regular photo printers noticeable amount of banding in all the photos visible.

HP Officejet Pro 8000 Review

To compete with laser printers, the HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer sets a good fight. It provides good quality documents at a lightning fast speed and low cost per page. Laser printers are still better quality mono documents at a lower cost per page, but this inkjet printer’s low price and good color prints are a decent compromise.

Pros

Lightning fast print speeds, vivid color palette buy cheap and to run, Ethernet connectivity, automatic duplex

Cons

Banding issues through pictures, tricky tray
