HP Photosmart D110A Review

December 10th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

If the HP Photosmart e-All-In-One D110a had nothing to offer, it would still be worth it as one of the few Web-connected HP printers and the first with ePrint. The ePrint feature what could be better named email print function, you can simply set by sending a file attached to a printer-specific address from HP. The D110a is also worth considering, given for other reasons, including multi-function printer (MFP) and features very high quality graphics.

Similar to the Epson Stylus NX515, the D110a reasonably capable MFP for home use, easy to use Home Office, or both. Both printers can print, copy and scan, for example, and scan to e-mail (with your PC e-mail program), and both include WiFi support, but no fax function.

HP Photosmart D110A Review

The printer cuts some corners, presumably to help reduce the price. Photo Centric capabilities for private use, for example, printing from memory cards, letting you preview photos on a color LCD display. However, the printer can only read SD, MMC and Memory Stick Duo format, and the screen is only 2.4 inches.

Even for home offices, boundaries, what is the D110a light stress, a remarkable lack of office-centric features. There is no automatic document feeder for scanning and no automatic duplex unit for printing (although there is a manual duplex printing in the driver). The main limitation is, however, the stingy input tray that can hold only 80 pages. If you print and copy only 20 pages a day, you have to load paper every four days.

Physical setup is typical for an inkjet MFP, consisting of little more than the search for a place for the 7.1-by 17.4-inches by 15.9 (HWD) printer, and load the two ink cartridges and paper. You can then use the automated installation routine from disc.

The D110a the speed is best known as tolerable, but not fast by modern standards, especially compared with the NX515 described. I time it to our business applications suite (using QualityLogic hardware and software for timing) for a total of 15 minutes 58 seconds. In comparison, the NX515 took just over half as much time at 8:32, and the Lexmark Artist S405 was 0:47. The D110a’s photo speed is also on the slow side, average 2:13 For a 4-by-6 and 5.46 for an 8-by-10. The 405 printed photos in less than half the time.

HP Photosmart D110A Review

Graphics quality was superb, with bright colors, including fillings and sharp edges for lines and text. The only question I saw was a loss of 1-pixel wide bright lines on a black background, a problem that shows printing with most printers. The graphics are good enough for any private or business use up to and including output will be an important customer, you need to impress with your professionalism. It is even good enough to attract a professional graphic artist in recital.

In addition to the ePrint feature that I mentioned above, offers the D110a another neat trick: to print directly from the Web using Web applications. The two functions are to the extent that they depend both on the printer connected directly to the Web and that you both used to using the same HP ePrintCenter site.

According to HP ePrint works with 15 different file formats, including PDF, both the 2003 and 2007 versions of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel, JPG, BMP and other popular image formats. Just a file to an e-mail and send it to the address of the printer. There is no easier way to print from a handheld device or print remotely. You can send a file from your office, for example, printing at home.

Both worked ePrint and web applications, as promised, but keep in mind that to use the only way is through direct connection to a network. Since the printer does not have an Ethernet port, it means you have to use WiFi, which will be a problem if you do not connect to a WiFi access point in the network or built into your router.

HP Photosmart D110A Review

Even if an access point, set up a wireless connection can be a problem. The printer supports WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) for one-button setup, and that is good if your access point or router supports it. But when it does like a I have Verizon FIOS, provided it must be set manually. In my tests the connection I always have, with the D110a’s report that the router is enabled a setting that was had in fact turned off. The issue that finally solved a HP representative, turned out to be total with a different attitude.

Despite the potentially frustrating D110a WiFi setup, there are a lot more than not, like, just starting with ePrint to print smartphones or pressure. The only real drawback is the small printer paper capacity. But if you do not print enough, the thing not thinking constantly refill the paper tray that a small price to pay for functions that must be paid by the Web Apps on the high quality graphical output. The combination is not down the line winner, but if you need the ePrint feature or high-quality graphics in a low-cost printer, it may well be your best choice.

HP Photosmart A516 Review

December 6th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

You would not know it (for less than $150) by the model number, but the HP Photosmart A516 Compact Photo Printer is a direct descendant of the HP Photosmart 385 GoGo printer. HP has changed its naming scheme, but the similarity was obvious as soon as I opened the box. The ink jet-based A516 has the same miniature-toaster shape as the 385-hold big enough for two slices. And they share important features with their older siblings, including similar print speed, print quality output, and the ability for sizes up to 4 – by 12-inch panoramas. But the A516 brings something new to the party in the form of nearly waterproof output. And it offers more features than I usually expect to see for this price.

HP Photosmart A516 Review

First, the A516 to print from most memory cards and PictBridge cameras and computers. And its built-in LCD lets you preview photos on memory cards. Granted, the LCD is only 1.5 inches, and it is in a fixed angle, so you may need the printer (or head) to move to see it well, but it is still a big improvement over not at all with an LCD , which is what you usually get (or not get) at this price.

The A516 does not contain a kiosk-style menu for you to crop or edit as having 385, but the LCD and buttons on the front, you can choose which photos to print from a memory card, if you print multiple copies, and whether pressure one, two, four or more photos per page.

With 4.6 by 8.7 by 4.6 inches (HWD) and 2.6 kilograms of the A516 is small enough to be considered easily portable. Even better, says the HP 8-ounce battery-pack option ($ 79.99) up to 75 photos on a single charge, even if there is no power outlet handy. And if you have a Bluetooth-enabled camera, you might also want the Bluetooth adapter ($ 59.99).

As with most photo printers, the installation is quick and easy. Snap in a tri-color print cartridge insert, paper, connect the power cord, turn on the printer and let it run its alignment routine, and are you ready from a camera or card to print. To print from your computer as well or just move photos from memory card to the hard disk you can also use the automated installation routine and a USB cable (which may have to buy separately).

HP Photosmart A516 Review

The printing speed is a little slow, but within the typical range for the small-format photo printers. In my tests, the A516 has 1 minute 29 seconds to 1:45, from a computer printer and 1.43 bis 02.06 clock from a Canon PowerShot S60 camera or CompactFlash card to print. This is just a little slower which lasted from 1.29 bis 01.38 clock to a computer or CompactFlash card to print.

Of course, the single-most important issue for a photo printer output quality. And the good news is that every photo I printed with the A516, with indoor and outdoor shots, close-ups of faces, landscapes, snow scenes, and more qualified as true photo quality. I saw some small errors up to scrutiny, including a slight loss of detail in bright areas on a few photos, but the quality was just a game for photos you can from your local drugstore or other typical consumers get photo labs.

I was also impressed with the photo-fix mode, which you turn on or can with a push of a button. The mode makes all sorts of things, red eye removal, brightness and contrast and sharpness of images and in some cases, it hurts rather than helps the image. But for most of the photos I printed, it either improves the quality or has no damage.

HP Photosmart A516 Review

Cost per print is a touch higher than I’d like, at a minimum 29.2 cents per photo, based on $ 34.99 (direct) for a pack with enough ink and paper for 120 photos. This is more than the 24-cent cost for the 385, but it is still less than it is at most photo printers, and HP’s new, expensive ink and paper have a serious complaint with the company I photo-printer I had resolved: a lack of water resistance.

Although the photos will show a water stain if you let a drop of water on the surface is dry, they have not smudge at all when I hold it under running water and rubbed them, even immediately after printing. You should have no problem standing on a hot, humid day of use. For the moment at least, it’s worth a few cents per photo. And the whole package offers enough to earn the HP Photosmart A516 Editors’ Choice for low-cost photo printer.

HP Photosmart B8550 Review

November 25th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

The new sweet spot for printer sizes 13×19 seems, or does A3 +/ Super as large enough to print 11×14 photos while still fitting average on the desktop, these printers offer much more flexibility than a letter size model. It also opens up the possibilities for different types of paper used, as many arts and premium papers may be, are not in A4 size. The drawback for many users but has been price. A year ago, printers in this size typically started at $ 599 and went from there. With the HP Photosmart B8550 is looking to take on the low-end prices at $ 370. For such a low price, one would expect quite a lot of compromises are made, and while there a few that I cover here, I was at the level of printing performance surprised a few hundred dollars you get in those days.

HP Photosmart B8550 Review

The HP Photosmart B8550 is compact for a 13×19 printer, measuring about 23 cm wide and 15 cm deep, so it should fit on most desks. On-board you will find a card reader with a full compliment of slots – CompactFlash, SD/SDHC, xD, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Duo and MMC. The card reader can be used to be photos directly from the printer without a computer, or attached to it can be used as a standard card reader. You’ll also find a standard PictBridge port to connect your camera directly to the printer.

The connection to the computer via USB 2.0. Up top is a control panel and a small color LCD. The LCD displays information about current tasks and works like a navigation system for viewing and printing images directly from a memory card. The control panel has buttons to scroll through the images and make menu selections, zoom in or out, and access to an extensive help system. Other features to print a handy School Papers option will include standard rule paper, graph paper, and several other species.

One option is to create presets for print albums, portfolios, passport and panoramic views. On board processing includes basic image adjustment and monochrome conversion, cropping, red-eye correction and design.

The pressure is treated by HP Vivera inks. The HP Photosmart B8550 uses four dye-based inks – photo black, cyan, magenta, and yellow for photo printing, and has a larger pigment black for text documents. It is obvious that HP is for the general market with the aim here was with only four colors, but I was impressed with the picture quality on the test prints I did.

HP Photosmart B8550 Review

The cartridges are small and you’ll burn through them too quickly. I got my first low ink warning with the yellow cartridge after only three 13×19 prints. Ignoring this warning, I could order five more prints before the actual exchange of the cartridge. After printing a total of 11 prints 13×19, I had replaced all four ink cartridges with the original Black pigment remaining installed. Inks are less expensive than the competition at $ 9.99 each, but a small consolation when you replace them often. HP does offer an XL version of the inks with 2.5 times the capacity for $ 14.99. This would be a much better option if you intend to do more than occasional printing.

The pigment black is a bit bigger and it used only for text, it should take quite a while. HP sells accessories for the Photosmart B8550 in “Photo Value Pack” with a set of four inks and paper. For about $ 35, you can change the colors with 150 sheets 4×6, or a bit more for larger papers with fewer pages. This pack is a good estimate of what HP thinks you can print from a series of ink cartridges.

There are two ways to feed paper on the HP Photosmart B8550. An upper compartment holds up to 20 4×6 or 5×7 paper and the standard tray holds up to 125 sheets of everything else. So you can load multiple types of media at once, and select Print from the shell in the driver. The printer uses paper with HP Auto Sense, HP recognized the barcode system used on the back.

Both platforms are software extras. Windows get HP Photosmart Essentials, cataloging and creating additional programs to the printer driver. You can create and print photo books, DVD slide shows, or print and use the included ArcSoft Print Creations, cards, calendars and album pages. On the Mac side, a bunch of applications to create, print, share, Stitch, and studio next to the printer driver.

HP Photosmart B8550 Review

What I found most interesting was the lack of printer profiles. On the Mac are profiles for HP Advanced Photo Paper and HP Premium Photo Paper installed. Windows users are no profiles at all. If you plan to print from a color are managed application like Photoshop Elements or it means you have to choose printer controlled, and it also eliminates the possibility to do soft proofing. Obviously, HP is not targeting this printer at each level photographer, but I’m leaving out some profiles on a platform was a strange decision on their part.

The print dialogs are standard issue for this type of printer. On Windows, there are a number of presets for different types of printing that the printer is configured in a single step. Mac users have a different setting without the presets. If you are printing from one of the bundled applications, however, is none of these matter the claims, the right options for you automatically.

Image quality

As I mentioned at the start of this review, was the print quality of HP Photosmart B8550 surprisingly good for a four-color printer. Managed Color Printer, the output tends a little towards the saturated side, especially with greens. The images are also 1 stop darker than what I have on the screen and what I see when printing using color managed. The printing speed is very good with a 13×19 borderless print, the less than six minutes.

I created custom profiles for a few other papers I use, including an art rag paper. Here, the printer was a few strips in the smooth gradation like sky. But only four colors, and no where matt black, I was with the results that may be suitable for general printing would be pleased.

HP Photosmart B8550 Review

With the card reader, I printed a set of 30 4×6 prints. I have the HP Real Life Technologies, which is built into the HP Photosmart B8550. This is such automatic adjustments to images. It has a good job of setting for dark shots, but once again the greens were over-saturated for my taste (think Velvia greens with a saturation boost).

I compared the HP Photosmart B8550 prints to an Epson R2880. While they are obviously aimed at a different audience, I was surprised how well the HP was next to the R2880 with its eight-color ink set. When printing in black and white, Epson has a clear advantage if, as the HP is not the range of tones in the prints I have done.

If you’re printing text documents, you will be satisfied with the quality and speed – about 30 pages per minute.

Conclusion

HP has an interesting offer with the Photosmart B8550. Ideally suited for mixed use with text and photos, it is a good solution for someone for a single printer for all applications. The 13×19 size will appeal to many, the perception of scrapbook aficionados who print on 12×12 paper. Based on my findings, a 4×6 print costs about $ 0.23. The number of prints per cartridge, it is disappointing. The XL version of ink would be a better option for this printer if you can do more than occasional printing. If you are looking for a pure photo printer, you will be happier purchased with something along the lines of the Epson Stylus Photo R1400, Canon Pixma Pro 9000 or HP Photosmart Pro B8850, which are optimized for photo printing and can for about $ 50 more.

HP Photosmart 385 Review

November 23rd, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

If HP Photosmart printer its portable range last year we were very impressed. The print quality was good, the portability and the entire large packages top notch. Another year and another update to the area, 385 this time in the form of the HP Photosmart How the new model is a contribution to the mix? We get pressure, and where.

On the surface, nothing has changed, the model is nearly identical in shape and size, and you’ll be hard-pressed to tell the difference bar the number on the side of the device.

HP Photosmart 385 Review

But there have been changes – hey, what should be the point of releasing a new model. The largest is the ability to now print panoramic images with HP’s new paper, while other changes, what you can to do the pictures into the memory of the printer cover.

As always you can 6x4in borderless prints from a variety of memory cards or camera itself, as long as it supports PictBridge, not to mention a PC or Mac. The new printing option is the ability to choose to print borderless three panoramic-image picture.

The paper, which measures 10cm x 30cm, fits into the printer prints the longitudinal and in the same way as the 6x4in pictures. You can choose either a memory card, digital camera or PC and as long as your image is printed three images wide/long which seems 385 happy (even if it is not an HP camera though handy enough new HP R817 panoramic images created in the camera). The results are very similar to an APS panoramic shot, only without any loss of quality, as you point the image of three shots is not only the explosion frame.

To view your images, the 385 comes with a built-in 6.4cm LCD, which flips up so you can see what you do without the mouse pointer over the unit. Here you can print photos, basic editing functions like this to them. Images can be zoomed cut frames are added, rotated or brightness changes. The printer also includes the ability to remove red-eye and features HP Real Life Adaptive Lighting technology, so you improve your pictures without a PC.

HP Photosmart 385 Review

In practice, it is as easy as it sounds, and the selection and printing of images is very simple. The only real drawback found we could was the inability to print multiple copies of the same pressure in a slip to us a mystery – if the pictures with your digital camera to your copyright will be taken so that it can not be the reason for this strange omission .

The print quality was very good as previous models have been tested and we have, as well as you would get from most professional labs. HP also has the 385 compatible with the new Grey ink cartridge that is, you can indeed make black and white images instead of four black to print images.

Conclusion

Like previous PhotoSmart models 385 is excellent and works well. Add the optional battery pack makes it a truly portable device and the panorama printing mode offers something new and different from other models on the market. We also particularly like the ability to edit our prints without the need for a computer on our side.

All in all, this is a superb effort by HP and whether you have a printer that prints borderless 6x4in (10x15cm) print can go, with such a strong recommendation.

HP A616 Photosmart Review

November 16th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

We have never grown tired of making fun of HP Photosmart portable printers since the introduction of the 475, 385 and 335 inkboxes. It seems the latest Photosmart A616 has a little “smarter” (an observation made by colleagues) by masquerading as a radio, and it’s awfully nice to boot. at least not yet – to have the record straight, we by no printer, tout FM radio capabilities too.

Design

The A616 measures 255 x 116 x 130mm and weighs 1.59kg with the ink cartridge installed. To put it, the printer is not all much larger than an A4 paper folded in the middle.

HP A616 Photosmart Review

This photo works with the same design as the previous features portable Photosmart printer, but its gentle curves rather speak of the female gender and not for those who are aware of the implementation of something that looks like a radio are.

Do not worry, though. Looking nice is not the only trick of the A616 on the sleeve. Lift the handle and you’ll be able to bring this printer to a beach party, if you have the optional internal battery (sold separately).

What we do not quite fancy was the loud “tiak” when the front door open which doubles as a holding company for technical terms – a measure that opens the 2.4-inch color LCD display and open the rear paper tray at the same time. Moreover, although you can adjust the screen for viewing at different angles (between 0 and 60 degrees), the cylindrical mechanism created a racket like a frog. If you do not like the single-pull mechanism uses three, you can also lift the monitor or the input slot manually, except that those who find it difficult with larger numbers, could do this.

Features

The upper panel are all necessary keys to operate the printer. There are buttons dedicated to go into the menus to delete images, photos, correct and change layouts. There is also a zoom rocker, a four-way with an embedded OK button keypad, and indicators for battery status and error messages. Even if the buttons are a little plasticky, we found it responsive during use.

HP A616 Photosmart Review

You can use a variety of different sized photos (JPEG and TIFF), from the usual 4 x 6-inch prints larger print 5 x 7-inch images. There are also options for printing your passport photo, snapped CD tattoos, stickers, and panoramic shots. The menu is simple, perhaps the only thing that can frustrate the user, the selection of each setting, the system brings to the default screen. This could mean that the additional step of going to the menu page to make more choices.

Minor editing should please most users. You can rotate images, add borders and color effects to your images. You can also print one photo per page or two, and up to a maximum of four if you really want to save your wallet.

Connectivity-wise, comes this photo machine with a built-in memory card, that xD-Picture Card, CompactFlash, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Duo accepts. There’s also a PictBridge port for direct printing from digital cameras and USB sticks. Printing with an optional Bluetooth adapter, you can send us your pictures via Bluetooth to the printer.

Performance

The A616 has about 10 seconds to power, which was disappointing, although the system is switched off only lasted 1.2 seconds. On average, our pressure patterns in the best quality setting with Photo Fix took 1.56 minutes from the time we hit the Print button until the picture rolled out in the operating tray. Off the Photo Fix option shortens the printing time of one bit. When printing in normal quality, the machine took about 1.1 minutes.

HP A616 Photosmart Review

One thing to note: The printing process is interrupted when the cartridge tray is opened. You can continue printing when the cover is closed. Our test results have been obtained by direct printing from a Imation 1GB SD card on HP Advanced Photo paper.

Image quality

Check out the Photo Fix enabled, the colors were saturated in our images much more. The edges were a little sharper. However, there was no discernible difference in pressure Best and normal quality. We liked how our test images turned out to feel with vibrant colors and dry.

HP Deskjet 460c Review

November 15th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

The HP Deskjet 460c is a portable color inkjet printer is directly to business travelers who are able to print documents on the road to ascertain whether it is in a hotel room or plane. Its speeds are on par with the competition, although his performance is not as uniform as that of the Canon Pixma iP90v similar. The Deskjet 460c produces excellent text prints, but the graphics and photo prints leave a lot to be desired, which is not a big deal when you consider the printer to use. For text output on the go, the HP Deskjet 460 makes a worthy companion.

As the Canons portable inkjet, the Pixma iP90v, the Deskjet 460 is not cheap. Unlike the Canon, HP portable printer gives the option for Wi-Fi printing. The iP90v is wireless printing (via IrDA), include the print from IrDA-phones and PDAs. But Wi-Fi printing is preferred because several people can print directly from computers on the same network (useful, for example, an external session). In the end the decision between these two portable printers is relatively straightforward: for better graphics and photo quality, go with the Canon, but if you have a need for Wi-Fi printing, to predict with the HP model.

HP Deskjet 460c Review

Several versions of the Deskjet 460 is available, ranging in price from $ 250 to $ 350, depending on the features included. All models share the same basic model is based, add-ons include a battery and wireless adapters. The table below shows the different models. (All models have a USB port.)

The HP Deskjet 460 printers are reasonably compact for portable inkjet printers, but they are still big enough and heavy enough that you would not want to carry you when you really need. They sit 13.4 inches wide, 6.5 cm deep and 3.3 inches tall and weigh 4.5 pounds without AC adapter or battery. They are slightly larger and heavier than the Pixma iP90v. the AC adapter and extra ink cartridges, for example – - While the printer is small enough to fit in some laptop bags, the assorted peripherals are plugged in the printer we want with a carrying case to the printer and its props was bundled home.

The control panel is limited to a few buttons and indicator lights. The buttons are power, cancel, and resume, while the lights tell you whether the battery (if applicable) is charging and warns you of low ink levels. On the back of the printer are two USB ports: one for connecting the printer to a PC and a second for PictBridge and USB flash drives. On the side are two slots for memory cards – CF and the other an SD/MMC.

Aside from printing from memory card, the CF slot is used, enable wireless printing over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, with an appropriate adapter. If you’re printing over Wi-Fi, a three-way switch on the back of the printer you want three different wireless profiles can be for up to three PCs or wireless networks. This is a great feature if you move the printer regularly between, for example, your office, your home, and a specific airport. For the same price as the base model Deskjet 460c, the Canon Pixma iP90v includes an IrDA (infrared) port for printing wirelessly from a cell phone or PDA.

HP Deskjet 460c Review

The paper handling is simple. The top cover folds up to the paper stock support, which has adjustable paper guides and can serve up to 50 sheets of plain paper. A small flap folds from the front edge of the printer to reveal the output area open. The flap does not serve as the output tray, though, so you need to be reset your printer from the table edge or on the spot to catch the pages as they exit the printer.

A small problem we noticed that the pickup has some difficulty with photo paper. In particular, if we are a group of about 10 sheets (4×6 inch), it could not pick up the first sheet to start a print job. It tried several times and finally gave an error. If we are helped along by the first sheet manually, the feeder was able to grab it and print, but then would put on the second sheet. The problem went away when we have less than four sheets of photo paper was in the feeder. We do not have the same problem occur if plain paper. Overall it is a small problem, but something to consider if you need to do batch prints of photos.

The Deskjet 460 printers use a two-tank ink system. The black ink comes in one size and prints about 450 pages for $ 20. The tri-color tank comes in regular ($ 25 to 260 prints) and high-capacity ($ 35, 450 prints) sizes. With the larger tank for best value, we estimate that a black-only print will cost about 4.4 cents per page, while a four-color page will cost about 12.2 cents per page. Both costs are very reasonable for an inkjet printer, especially for a portable like this, despite being a hair more than the cost per page are the iP90v.

In CNET Labs’ dragged the HP Deskjet 460 Canon Pixma iP90v in text speeds, though it was printed slightly faster with color display. It has 4.88ppm for black text, well behind the Canon rating 6.24ppm. When printing color graphics produced, he prints at a rate of 1.89ppm, just ahead of Canon 1.42ppm The Deskjet 460 is a little slower than the Canon at 4×6 photo prints. 0.53ppm for the HP versus 0.68ppm for the Canon.

HP Deskjet 460c Review

The text quality prints showed almost laser-quality prints. To the naked eye, the text prints were pretty much perfect: dark black, sharp characters and clean lines. The color graphics print not quite fare as well, if we find they are still impressive. While we liked the saturation, the light from the end of the grayscale was blown which lost details in some photo-elements. We have also found some graininess in the same photo areas. The 4×6 photo prints fared the worst; prints were grainy, and the details were blurred. These results are not surprising, though. The Deskjet 460 is for business people who happen to need the ability to print documents anywhere aligned. The prints are good enough for snapshots, though.

HP Deskjet 460 printer supports the series with a standard one-year warranty. Toll-free phone support is available 24-7, or you can e-mail to send technical support. HP Web site also offers drivers, documentation and manuals, software, FAQs, and setup functions.

HP LaserJet 2420dn Review

October 27th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

The HP LaserJet 2420dn offers more possibilities than you might expect from its size. Weighing in at only 33.5 pounds and receiving just 10.2 by 16.7 by 15.7 inches (HxWxD), it is easy to move enough for one person and small enough to sit on your desk. But in the Box is a 30 pages per minute (ppm) engine, which cranks out paper more quickly than most other printers, including some with a faster engine ratings.

HP LaserJet 2420dn Review

Physical setup is more like setting up a small personal laser contains such as establishing a typical 30-ppm Behemoth, a single cartridge, both the toner and drum. Network and driver installation is even easier, thanks to Slick install HP-routine that takes care of most to you.

With 6 minutes 30 seconds total time on our business applications suite 2420dn one of the fastest printers we’ve ever put through our tests (using QualityLogic hardware and software for timing, www.qualitylogic.com) is. The only printer with faster times had motor power of 35 ppm or higher.

Text quality deserves an excellent rating, with all fonts easily readable at 6 points or less, and slightly more than half legible to 4 points. Graphics earned a good rating, with several minor defects, including minor visible dithering patterns, but no major problems. Photos at the top end of fair assessment, held back primarily by visible dithering. The OKI B6300N offers similar overall quality scores with a slightly better rating for photos and a slightly lower rating for the graphic.

Considering how quickly work 2420dn but a stack of paper, the standard 350-sheet input capacity, including the 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and the maximum capacity of 850 sheets, if you have a 500-sheet tray add seems relatively poor. OKI B6300N the other hand, offers a maximum capacity of 1,800 sheets. But if you much speed, high quality and do not need all that many pages printed every day, the HP LaserJet 2420dn is the right printer for your small office or workgroup.

HP LaserJet P4015X Printer Review

October 26th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

What would you expect if you were to pay 1,000 for a black and white laser printer? This type of price, you would probably be a good speed, multiple feeds trays, a duplexer, networking, PostScript and PCL, and many expansion possibilities. Ticks all the boxes with the HP LaserJet P4015x, part of a new series of printers to groups of 10 to 15 people oriented.

This printer is much greater than most mono lasers we’ve tested, but mainly because it is equipped with a second paper tray. Since both subjects can hold 500 sheets, makes the machine quite high above the desk. There is a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, also pulls down the front of the printer.

HP LaserJet P4015X Printer Review

That’s all the standard paper sources, but maybe the printer can be up to six subjects, and one of them can a massive, 1,500-sheet tray can be bulk. Other options include a stapler/stacker, an envelope feeder and a special compartment, as well as more memory and hard drive for storing documents.

The control panel is clean and straightforward, with a keyboard for secure printing and a 4 line by 16 character backlit LCD display, which includes access to tutorials on printing techniques, printed from the machine’s own firmware.

A special feature we have is seen on a few recent laser has a USB jack on the front so you can transfer files to print from a flash drive. Unfortunately, there is nothing like this on the HP machine, if you print it by sending a file via the Gigabit Ethernet connection and print only after you reach the machine and entered a PIN. As well as the network interface is a standard USB 2.0 port for local connection to a PC.

In view of the 225,000 pages per month duty cycle of this printer and the capacity of its drum and toner cartridges, it is surprising, as they are discreet. Fold the front cover of the printer, and you can slide in a cartridge with a minimum of fuss – and it does not disappear deep inside the machine mechanism.

HP LaserJet P4015X Printer Review

Software installation is also easy with the drivers and utilities to provide easy loading from the CD. The driver supports duplex documents, booklets, watermarks, multi-pages per sheet and prints at 600 dpi and 1200 dpi both resolutions.

It’s silly speed again with quotes for the HP LaserJet P4015x 50ppm up. We measure our usual five-page document – including text and graphics, text – and a 20-page document, in simplex and duplex print modes. facilities with a high-performance printer that, it is fair to record lengths will be longer than with a smaller, personal use laser.

The five-page printed document at a time of 17 seconds and 16 seconds and a top speed of 18.75ppm. Take the document lengths up to 20 pages that are processed in 37 seconds, the printer and print 32.4ppm. With documents of 50 or more pages, you can be anywhere in the vicinity of 40ppm, but it’s hard to see how to get the printer headline speed, even on very long runs.

A high-speed printer like this is primarily for text printing and are used to this, the LaserJet P4015x is very good. It produces very clean characters, sharp and tight, even at small sizes and shades of gray text also pretty smooth. Fill Areas of gray levels are fair, but there is a slightly mottled look to mid-range gray tones. This slight blotchiness with by well reproduced in prints, but there is to know very little banding and tones in the shadows. For a working laser, the photo images that we produced more than reasonable.

HP LaserJet P4015X Printer Review

One of HP are supposedly in the specifications of the LaserJet P4015x could be avoided is noise. If there is noise content, the company uses sound power emission, which Bel, measured when all other noise, measured in dB used. HP method may be more properly scientific, but prevents you from using a comparison of the noise from the printer so that other manufacturers. In fact, we measure this printer at 68dBA peaks at half a meter that loud enough to be annoying. You would not want the working group at the end of the P4015x your desk.

The only consumables in this machine, the toner and drum unit, available in two capacities of 10,000 pages and 24,000 pages, and the so-called user maintenance kit, which seems to be a new fuser unit, designed for 200,000 pages.

These supplies are readily available as they are for all the 4000 series of HP laser printers. Working through the numbers is the cost per page of 1.67p, which is good, if not quite the best we have seen by a working group machine. The Lexmark T642, for example, is 1.47p.

Conclusion

This is a good mono-office workhorse with plenty of room for expansion, but with considerable pressure muscle directly from the carton. It produces good print quickly, if does not believe quite as fast as HP, and has low fuel consumption and maintenance costs, making it a solid buy for any busy workgroup with a lot of paperwork.

HP M2727NF Laserjet Review

October 25th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

HP LaserJet M2727nf is an important step in the mid-range in quality, performance and functionality as a whole. For those who are excellent quality black and white print need for a reasonable price, the M2727nf certainly not the job.

The M2727nf is 50mm higher than that, it is certainly not small. In addition to the standard copy, scan and print functions, the device also offers a fax function and USB and Ethernet connectivity.

HP M2727NF Laserjet Review

Media support is fairly standard, with a 250-page paper cassette and an additional 50-page media input tray for specialized printing. A 50-page automatic document feeder sits on top of the scanner for copying and scanning. The media input capacity enough for most small and medium-sized enterprises, although the 125-page fill media output tray when the printer is unattended.

Toner replacement is located thanks to a fast shutter M2727nf below the control panel. The printer is capable of printing 3,000 pages with a low-toner cartridge and 7,000 pages using a high-capacity toner cartridge. At $ 128 and $ 236, respectively, they are not cheap, but the high capacity cartridge offers a reasonable cost per page of 3.4c.

Out of the box has the multifunction button 64MB internal memory. This is sufficient for standard use, but it can be upgraded to a maximum of 320 MB on an accessible drive. Do not expect this memory to cheap, however, we have a quick search of local stores and found that 256 compatible memory card cost as much as the unit itself.
600dpi and 1200dpi – - Although there are only two points per inch settings, it also 132 lines per inch and density 180lpi text can do what we have seen only on much more expensive. Comparing this output to the printer’s best and the quality difference is immediately noticeable. The M2727nf the output is extremely precise, with no aberrations or signs of over-darkened text. While P4015N failed to produce much darker text without sacrificing quality, the M2727nf the issue might be a little too pale for our taste.

HP M2727NF Laserjet Review

Despite the brilliant quality, the M2727nf out at a pace that barely get by in the cheaper models. In standard 600dpi and 1200dpi quality levels, the multifunction key printed at 27.2 pages per minute with first page out in 17.9 seconds. When printing with 1200 dpi or 180lpi the setting, it slows down dramatically to 8 ppm, to adjust a result of the printer with its toner between each page.

The M2727nf is not as good as scanning printed. Image scans are saturated high, with exaggerated colors distort the reference image. Image brightness levels are generally disproportionate, and therefore the image has become largely useless. The unit is supplied with sufficient collective text documents, but certainly no image scanning strength.

HP CM2320fxi Printer Review

October 21st, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in HP

HP MFP CM2320fxi is equipped to meet every print job to undertake small to medium office needs, with a monthly duty cycle of up to 40,000 pages.

It has a fax machine, an automatic duplex unit and a total capacity of 550 sheets of A4 paper thanks to his second paper tray.

HP CM2320fxi Printer Review

There are memory card slots for SD, MMC, Memory Stick, CompactFlash, and xD cards, which is unusual on a laser printer. The photo quality is good enough to make it usable. However, it is supported only for image files, including JPEG and TIFF. We would liked to see more support for file formats such as PDF, DOC and RTF documents would have.

A 2.4in color screen makes the most important settings. Not all options are on the screen, though, so we were pleased to see that the printer’s web interface was powerful and easy to use. You can use this to color density and auto-calibration set cycles and determine what type of paper you’re using in each subject.

Drivers for Windows and Mac OS X. The CM2320fxi each page in the standard HP PCL5c PCL6 or languages that will be sent also supported on most operating systems. The driver includes an animated guide to setting up the printer, the most difficult task was to lower the heavy pressure on the removable tray.

The CM2320fxi uses the same printing mechanism as the HP Color LaserJet CP2025n (Labs, Shopper 250) and takes the same toner cartridges. Printing costs are above average, but toner is the only consumable, the care of this MFP easier than most laser power. It comes with full toner cartridges that 3500 black and 2,800 pages printed in color can. High-yield cartridges are not available when. The total cost of ownership is expensive to use at 1,487 for three years, medium (18,000 mono and 9,000 pages in color). Printing costs are 1.9p for a mono page and 7.3p for a page of mixed color and black.

HP CM2320fxi Printer Review

The print quality was virtually flawless, with accurately reflected in characters also 5pt font sizes. Color photos and illustrations were lively and smooth shaded. We like to curl the “No paper” mode in the printer-service menu. This is the fuser’s temperature based on the paper settings, is so light, the paper does not overheat.

Print speed were normal for a printer at this price, with Mono 15.3ppm for text and 8.7ppm color shown only for our document. We had to wait up to 22 seconds for the first page, and more jobs have been through self-cleaning cycles, every 30 pages or so seemed to come off.

The scanner drivers are an improvement over the older with many MFPs from HP, but they are not as good as those from Epson and Canon. You have to go through three different windows to change resolution and a preview and settings are not preserved between the scans. Scan quality was sharp and accurate colors, and the 50-page ADF made it easy to scan the entire document at once. Photocopies were pretty fast, but the quality was not brilliant, with a yellowish hue. Some mono copies looked too dark, but that was easy to correct with the MFP’s flash settings.

Although the prints look stunning and its performance in other areas is acceptable, this MFP is not as good as it should be. The scanner driver is disappointing, and it is now too expensive CM2320fxi and run. It’s been a while since we have a color laser MFP, which we have seen the impressive and we are still worth looking for an award.
