Xerox claims the printer can show loop of 30 pages per minute (ppm), and our tests, the company is not Fudging the numbers. It printed our 10-page document of diagrams, photos and text in a zippy 24 seconds, and our 20-page text file took only 44 seconds. In comparison, took the less expensive Brother HL-2170W 34 and 57 seconds to complete each with the same tasks. The Brother lasted even 19 seconds to go from cold start to the first page, the Phaser only lasted 13 seconds.

The Phaser print quality is very good for standard text documents with sharp edges and relatively smooth gradation from black to gray to white with a hint of banding. Text looked very sharp with larger fonts, but dithering prevented it at extremely small sizes easy to read. We were able to read text all the way down to 5 points on a black background, and 4 dots on a gray background, which is respectable. We also saw text printed at 600 dpi, 1,200 dpi and with text enlargement on and not see any drastic improvements in print quality. want to take pictures and graphics looked acceptable, but-as always-if you print documents with many photos, you are better off with either an inkjet or laser printer.
However, the Xerox Phaser 3250/DN solid monochrome workhorse, with high speeds, good expansion options and low cost per page. It is considerably more expensive than other monochrome printer, but the performance and features justify the additional cost largely.
